now controls an integrated air defense network based in but subordinate to the Russian Armed Forces Russia claims to be training Syrians to take over the S-300s but this is unlikely to be true. Syrians likely will only perform basic maintenance & integration tasks

It is unclear if the newly-added S-300 systems are operational But Russia is gaining control over remaining Syrian systems & integrating them It deployed the Polyana-D4 system to extend its command & control range & modified the S-300s to make them compatible with Syrian radars

We assess that each S-400 & S-300 that has deployed to is a battalion sized element with at least 4 launchers. The number of radars and fire control vehicles per battalion is unknown from openly available sources at this time
