Excellent column by . It would be very bad if companies hurt themselves and the economy by deliberately overpaying the IRS. I've also weighed in on this issue:

In David Brooks' view, Apple should have made decisions that would have disadvantaged employees, consumers, and stockholders--just so politicians in Washington, D.C., would have more tax revenue to spend.

A couple of years ago, this story -- like so many others -- would have been called an opinion piece. No attempt whatsoever to present serious ideas of those in favor of a modicum of national sovereignty in an interconnected world.

Waiting for exhaustive study in the Times of at least one execution by slow strangulation at Evin prison following torture of the condemned. "Shocking" how Times never ties "moderates" Zarif & Rouhani to Basij enforcement officers, the IRGC, Assad, calls for Israel's destruction

1) It’s outrageous to imply dual loyalty because you disagree with a policy initiative. 2) A new member of Congress has no place saying that four U.S. Senators don’t know which country they represent.

You had recommended callebaut which is what I used I think, though generally I prefer Scharfenberger. I got a kind of tough skin on the top was the main problem, plus more graininess than I wanted...

Some other police departments decided that mugshot searches are too risky. Not the NYPD, which still lets witnesses look through 100s of mugshot photos in the hopes they spot their assailant. Sometimes they do. Sometimes they pick the wrong guy. My story:

I almost feel a twinge of embarrassment for after this devastating review by of Weisman latest Jr. High school piece on American Jews & their relationship with Israel. But then I remember that Weisman is proud of his ignorance.

And distinguishing what is and what isn’t is an important role of journalism in these times that readers such as myself greatly appreciate when reporters provide it.

Why does the New York Times allow someone with this little knowledge on his subject area continue to cover it? And why don’t they have editors who know better looking at his stuff more carefully?

Might I remind everyone, again, that is the same editor who thought it was a good idea to list which supporters/opponents of the Iran deal were Jewish. We'd all be better off if he'd stick with covering Beltway politics.

I have no idea who this person is, but his thread lays out in clear bullet points the state of mind of many center-left and center-right Israelis and pro-Israel US liberals regarding the conflict. Worth reading to understand this POV even if you disagree.

If you think the just employs double standards when reporting on Israel, then you need to pay attention to how they use double standards when reporting on Orthodox Jews too. explains:
