As a lifelong sportsman, I know how urgent this issue is for Minnesotans. That’s why I’m proposing over $4.5 million to more accurately track and respond to chronic wasting disease, so has the resources needed to maintain deer health and management

My heart mourns for the 17 people who died 1 year ago today in Parkland. The time to take action is now. We must keep our communities safe — and I look forward to working with , law enforcement, and advocates on gun violence prevention measures. More to come in my budget.

I am proud that my budget will invest a historic $30 million each year for County Program Aid — funding that helps counties with roads, police, etc. We must invest in the prosperity of our communities, and no one knows how to do that better than folks at the local county level.

Chairman Norm Deschampe was a bright spirit, humble leader, and tireless advocate for Native communities in MN, serving on the tribal council since he was 23 years old. I am sad to hear he has walked on. Sending peace and love to his family and the Grand Portage Native community
