Of course, as soon as I delivered the beer, I went back to the kitchen and spent five minutes mixing myself an elaborate whiskey drink while she watched the game. Patience and timing, guys. That’s the lesson.

There was a moment last night when I was cooking dinner for my family and my feminist scientist wife asked me to fetch her a beer while she watched the UVA game and I looked around to make sure this wasn’t some elaborate sting operation run by Tucker Carlson or the Federalist.

This is my favorite April tradition. (Farragut, you will all remember, was a Tennessean who remained loyal to the Union.)

Well that parent’s attempt at ‘scared straight’ didn’t work as planned. I’m in parking lot in car, windows down humming ‘baby shark’ cuz shut up that’s why. Anyway, mom says ‘if you don’t behave I’ll have the police take you.’ I wave and sing louder and the kid claps. Mom frowns

I’m sorry, I will delete the tweet. I should have known that only scholars should attempt to explain the relevance of scholarship to the non-scholarly population.

My Dad was a sportswriter and covered the SEC tournament every year. I would tag along.

Also, we — and, uh, some of us more than others — shouldn’t be throwing around accusations that veterans we haven’t met somehow lack personal integrity.

Which is why it might make the most sense to do a poll at the end of this season when, perhaps, feelings will not be as raw. The way you phrase the question will also be important. I would focus on whether or not the name stands in the way of a broader fan base.

It’s certainly worth asking the people of Christchurch — probably starting with the Muslim population there — whether the name of the franchise is an impediment to some people supporting the franchise, or rugby in general.
