Fair point and thanks. But by “now,” I implied the modern period. It began with the wiping of Ottoman Armenians from Anatolia. Nationalism, “anti-imperialism,” and Islamism ultimately created a poisonous mix.

This big story in ⁦⁩ on the near-destruction of in Mideast is saddening. The curious thing is that has dominated the region for 14 centuries, but this is happening only now, marking the unprecedented crisis of Islam.

With this logic, he must be anti-Arab, too, as he speaks of the manipulation by Gulf States as well.

Superb book. An important read for Jews, Christians and Muslims. I think it will open many people's eyes as to the centrality of Jesus in Islam, and how the Muslim vision of Jesus relates to early understandings of Christ by Christians themselves.

As China’s oppression of Uyghurs goes unnoticed by Muslim leaders, so does Russia’s oppression of Tatars in Crimea, “whom the Russians are brainwashing and alienating from Tatar culture, language, and their Muslim religion.“ Crucial piece by :

Watch this, not least for the gobsmacking whataboutism equating moving from the Guardian to the Times with pro-government moguls in buying newspapers and firing critical journalists. Cue the response from Mehdi Hasan: David Aaronovitch isn’t in prison.

If Wikipedia wins this case, the Turkish government will lose, but the Turkish people will win - at least those among them who are interested in "knowledge."
