About Us

The Lawdons is a Coterie for lawyers, their staff and those connected with the law, including law students, who support the Essendon Football Club. The Coterie was established in 1999 by Judge Tony Howard QC and members represent all aspects of the law and legal practice - judges, magistrates, other judicial officers, barristers, solicitors, corporate lawyers, academics and others connected with the law.

Membership of the Lawdons offers a great opportunity to enjoy club activities with past and present players and personnel, but also to network with other lawyers to enhance one's professional practice or activities. Most of all, we love supporting the Mighty Bombers!

What We Do

Since the Lawdons inception we have run a variety of events including exclusive training breakfasts, cocktail parties and gala dinners for our members. Each event is supported by the Essendon Football Club with attendance by coaches, players or EFC personnel. Money raised through our functions goes to support the Club's important community activities, including the promotion of indigenous causes.

The Coterie is also available to offer support concerning legal issues to the team, coaches, board and club more generally and we provide initial pro bono assistance to supporters who want to make bequests in their will to EFC.

About the EWN

The Essendon Women's Network (EWN) is a non-match day coterie group who support the women of Essendon, raise funds for the club and are aligned to the club's Vision and Values.

EWN provides membership to a diverse group who may not get the opportunity to attend games however, are football enthusiasts who enjoy meeting a diverse range of women. The EWN Committee consist a group of eight professional women who want to ensure that all women are included, heard and feel proud to be a member of the EFC.

What We Do

EWN are Engaged, Aligned and Committed to supporting the club reach their strategic objectives. The EWN are currently working with EFC to review their female member's engagement plans to ensure inclusion of all women throughout our community.

Their major fundraising event is the Grand Final Comedy Debate; which highlights amazing women who continually contribute to our game of' Australian Rules Football' by announcing the Football Women of the Year. This is coupled with a topical comedy debate moderated by Anthony ‘Lehmo’ Lehmann. The Grand Final Comedy Debate is proudly supported by the AFL.
