Ambassadors warmly welcome and actively engage guests at the different venues and Festival sites. This large group of volunteers acts as the public face of Luminato by greeting guests, answering general questions and providing information about different activities and fulfillig usher duties.

Info Team volunteers help guests get the most out of the Luminato Festival by making insightful programming recommendations. Info Team members receive training about artistic programming in order to provide in-depth information to visitors. They are usually positioned at the Info Booth at the Festival Hub.

Festival Administrative Volunteers (FAVs) help with “behind the scenes” tasks at Luminato’s Volunteer Centre. They use their excellent administrative and communication skills to assist the Volunteer Department with general office work such as scheduling, on-shift updates and data entry.

For the first time in Luminato’s history, we’re taking possession of a singular location which will include two performing art spaces: a 1,200 seat theatre and a music stage. As an Usher or Scanner you closely collaborate with the FOH Manager, ensuring the smooth operation of the two venues. You are customer service focused; enjoy interacting with the public and are able to assist them with any ticketing and seating needs.

You will have one of the coolest roles ever! As an expert on the Hearn Generating Station, you’ll get to take members of the public on an exclusive adventure through the Hearn. Sharing information about the rich history of the building, you’ll have the chance to put your public speaking skills and your communication skills to work while being enthusiastic, relatable and knowledgeable. A commitment of a minimum of 3 shifts is required.
As one of our awesome Tour Guides, you should:
• Be able to absorb in-depth information
• Enthusiastic and eager to learn new information
• Excellent interpersonal relations and communication skills
• Punctual and dependable
• Attend an additional training on Monday, May 16, 6:30 – 8 PM
• Previous Docent or Tour Leading experience an asset

Mentorship Programs
Mentors play a leadership role, working with a group of volunteers dedicated to specific programs.
As part of our partnership with CultureLink, a settlement agency for new Canadians, we are recruiting mentors to work with small groups of newcomers as they prepare to volunteer at the Luminato Festival. Mentors will guide their mentees through the CultureLink training program beginning in March. This opportunity will provide an even greater capacity to give back, both to the Luminato Festival and to a group of excited newcomers to Canada. Between March and June a CultureLink mentor is expected to volunteer for 35 hours, attending the following:
- Interview
- Mentor Meet & Greet orientation
- "Best Practices for Mentors" workshop
- One training session
- Circle meetings
- Luminato Festival shifts

Are you interested in photography, or an experienced photographer? The Youth Volunteer Photography Team is an educational initiative designed to mentor young people between the ages of 14–18 who are passionate about photography. We’re currently looking for mentees and mentors!

Team Leaders manage groups of volunteers and act as the main contact point between open sites and Festival staff, volunteers and the Volunteer Department staff. Team Leaders are responsible for reviewing the events of the day, assigning tasks to volunteers, rotating their team through breaks and are experts at creating a fun and focused atmosphere. To be considered as a Team Leader, you will be expected to attend the following:
- Interview
- Online orientation
- Attend ONE training session
