Mother earth disillusioned fairy dyeing

fairy sketch I am working on drinking green honey tea while outside the wind howls and the rain pours..Happy Tea Tuesday

A quick watercolour I did after hearing of the Paris tragedy..the words read “Mother Earth please forgive them for they know not what they do”.  I think in these troubled time we all need to light a candle of Hope

My latest obsession has been dyeing.  I wanted to dye a cream blanket I had to use in applique.  I followed the instructions in this excellent video and found that my procion dyes worked well.  The top orange blanket used tandoori powder though and I am so pleased at how it has turned out..so check out that spice  cupboard..turmeric is supposed to be good too. It is so easier to do than have cold water buckets of dye all over the place especially with boisterous sons about! Until next time..keep warm.

watercolours for my soul

This week I started another of Junelles workshops called the Art of Pilgrimage.  I like her workshops as they give me something to think about on a personal spiritual level. These journal pages are full of little envelopes and tags which I am going to add inspirational meaningful quotes for just me…image

we had to sketch things which were important to us…so that would be my boots and warm clothes for walks, books, art magazines and of course a big basket of wool and my mint tea of course

image

another ideas was to paint what gave us joy so for me that would be zumba, knitting and mint tea this week.

Have a good weekend

Autumn walk

I am taking part in the Strathmore Pass the Journal project so the above watercolour is for that.  I love autumn with all its beautiful colours.  I have included some of my favourite meditative quotes on the page too. To see the pulp journal I am taking part in click the link here..so far it has travelled across the US to Italy and now in Liverpool and from me it will go to Norway.

I love the primitive style of quilting and needlecraft so was pleased to get a copy of this magazine which I have been looking through while drinking my mint tea after relaxing yoga.

Here I am in Clint Eastwood pose as I finished my poncho at the weekend..its lovely and warm and I call it my mindful poncho as I find knitting very meditative and calming being in the moment.

Autumn walks

I have always loved walking amongst the autumn leaves all wrapped up in my hat, coat and scarf.

The new pine cones are not yet out but found these old ones beneath the trees. A new cafe has opened in the park and has lots of books to encourage everyone to read. I love scribd for art and spiritual books but love the feel of old well read books. I am currently reading a funny book on manners and etiquette by Sandy Toksvig… Would love to know what you are reading.
