Shirin von Wulffen’s Favorite White Jeans

I’m on the hunt for new white jeans and asked a few of my uber stylish friends to weigh in with their favorites. Sixth up, Bastide co-founder Shirin von Wulffen:

“These are my favorite white Chanel jeans that I found years ago in a vintage store in St Tropez and always thought they were a bit short. Then I got pregnant and they did not fit me for about 4 years so I almost tossed them. Now they are back in my life and I am suddenly loving the cropped thing and high waist.” Shirin

Vogue

‘The Forever House’

Marina Rust’s 1816 Georgian brick home in Charlottesville, Virginia is profiled in August Vogue and it’s lovely. The charming guest house above was once the summer kitchen—perfection.

Beauty

Tried and True

I’ve been buying and trying a number of light-weight foundations recently and I keep coming back to Charlotte Tilbury’s products—they are great on my dry skin and aren’t irritating. Until something knocks them off their pedestal, I’m sticking with what works.

Light Wonder, Wonder Glow, The Retoucher, Nude Kate lipstick.

FW17 Campaign

Bottega Veneta at Lee House 2

Tomas Maier is a huge architecture fan and chose Lee House 2 for the Bottega Veneta FW17 campaign location. Built in 1956 by famed architect John Black Lee who is often referred to as the sixth of the famous “Harvard five” architects, which included Philip Johnson, John M. Johansen, Marcel Breuer, Landis Gores, and Eliot Noyes. Lee House 2 was restored in the nineties by famed architect Toshiko Mori followed by a final restoration in 2010 by Kengo Kuma. Maier said to Keep it Chic “I love architecture, which is why we always shoot our campaigns in world-renowned buildings. Since Spring/Summer 2017 was shot in a Paul Rudolph house in an urban setting, we had to find a structure that would match that level, and I knew Lee House 2 would deliver. The fact that it snowed gave the models, the clothing and the architecture an additional dimension.”

“Mixed Messages”, the first video for the house in a series entitled “The Art of Collaboration”, stars Mariacarla Boscono, Eva Herzigova, and Grace Chen and is filmed at Lee House 2.

Cool Collaboration

Bella Freud x J Brand

The very cool collaboration between British designer Bella Freud and J Brand is just the right amount of retro chic—I already have my eye on two pairs of jeans. The jumpsuit unzipped over a classic Bella Freud word-print tee is nicely styled. Vogue has all the looks here.

Blazé Milano

The Blazé Milano motto, “Every cool girl is half boy” succinctly sums up the founders’ vision for their blazers. Corrada Rodriguez D’Acri, Delfina Pinardi, and Sole Torlonia—Elle Italia alums—launched their line in 2014 and have been gaining traction and fans ever since. The focus on details, especially the smiley pocket and piping, is the game changer that makes these blazers stand out.

The Edit

‘Hidden Depths’

Guinevere van Seenus looks amazing in this story from The Edit—I booked her often for Vogue and Helmut Lang’s shows, she is one of my all-time favorite models. In the accompanying article, Guinevere talks about her early days in the business and career longevity.

This issue of The Edit is devoted to “The new Black”,—my cotton LBDs have certainly been getting out and about this summer, too.

The Juliet Sleeve

Untitled-071617

Combine the Tudor-style sleeves on J.W. Anderson’s SS17 jackets + the Atlantique Ascoli peasant blouse = the perfect Tibi blouse. The longer length and price point are good, too.

Food

Revering the Radish

I’ve rediscovered the radish and am using it in a myriad of ways. From roasted to shaved raw with a mandoline, my fave root vegetable this summer is also really good for you. Bon Appétit has some fantastic radish recipes as does Martha Stewart.  I found this article on storing after harvest and The Washington Post has a piece on winter radishes.

Agnes Baddoo’s Favorite White Jeans

I’m on the hunt for new white jeans and asked a few of my uber stylish friends to weigh in with their favorites. Fifth up LA and NYC-based handbag designer, Agnes Baddoo:

“I love sailor pants for the flattering feminine fit in the waist and the breezy, wide but straight, leg. Worn grazing just below the ankle, hovering above the foot, they look great with flats like these Moroccan babou by my friend Mariko, a heeled espadrille, or sandals. My pants are vintage, a similar pair are the Jesse Kamm sailor pants in Salt.” Agnes
