Sam Bee NAILED why Kavanaugh is grossly unfit and the inexcusable and unforgettable misogyny and slut shamping from the GOP.
Recently, I wrote an essay on Mock Paper Scissors about the Problem with Penises.
This essay isn’t about bashing men. Good men know who they are. Women recognize and appreciate those men. In fact, you’re our gold standard for how all men should treat women. The fact that I need to include this disclaimer is part of the issue.
Since forever, penises and their handlers (PH’s) have been granted astonishing privilege and power over vaginas and their handlers (VH’s). Penises are lauded as funnier, smarter, decisive, and significantly more adept at everything. They’re encouraged to treat VH’s as the fairer sex, less than, and to behave like a gentleman through acts of chivalry. Or as we call it, misogyny, mansplaining, sexual harassment, rape, sexual assault, or rape adjacent behavior, among other things. PH’s think it is their birthright to exert total control over a VH whenever they see fit. Society has taught VH’s that we were put on this earth to live in servitude of PH’s, and that our worth is tied to a PH’s desire to marry us […].

The American Bystander is an all-star print humor magazine in trade paperback book format, publishing work from the greatest agglomeration in the history of print comedy, people from The Simpsons, Monty Python, National Lampoon, SNL, The New Yorker, SPY, Letterman…
Reaction to our first three issues has been incredible. The New York Times called us “essential reading for comedy nerds,” and Newsweek called us “the last great humor magazine.” Our crowdfunding campaigns have raised $140,000. For over a year, people have been asking to subscribe.
Every time we do an issue, subscribers will automatically receive a brand new Bystander at a discounted rate (and the more subscribers we get, the bigger the discount, so spread the word!). Subscribers at the $5 level will be charged $5, and receive a PDF; subscribers at the $20 level will receive a print copy. You won’t have to respond by a certain date, back a Kickstarter, or do anything but subscribe this once. And of course, you can opt-out at any time.
Subscribers at higher levels will receive all sorts of additional goodies.
The hardest and most time-consuming part of Bystander is the crowdfunding — but since we’re determined to pay our contributors, I have to raise the money somehow. Subscriptions are the quickest route for us to do a lot more issues. And I’m receiving a flood of work from the most distinguished writers and cartoonists from all over the world, enough to fill many issues. If you want to get new work from people like Roz Chast, Jack Handey, Brian McConnachie, and Merrill Markoe delivered directly to your in-box, subscribe and tell your friends!
My goal is to gather as many people as possible, and charge them as little as possible — that way, Bystander will become the fearless and unkillable print humor magazine that the United States needs. Subscriptions are the only way for us to avoid being held hostage by advertisers, distributors, or political pressure.

The State of New York is about to decide whether or not it is going to be the last state in the nation to Raise The Age of minimum prosecution. Kids don’t belong in adult jails or prisons, but New York sends kids to adult prisons – no matter what the crime – and it’s doing tremendous harm to them.
But, and this is where it gets ugly, a few politicians in New York are playing games with this bill. It’s already passed the legislature, but the State Senate is stalling it out for the 5th year in a year. This is despicable. The bill has passed in virtually every deeply conservative state in America, but New York keeps messing this up – and people’s lives are being devastated in the process.
I am ashamed that New York has done this. Let’s let these politicians know that they need to step up and do right and Raise The Age in New York like it has been done nationwide.
Today, we have to make our presence known. We have to make it clear to each and every member of the New York State Senate that they need to pass Raise The Age.
I want you to email, call, tweet, and Facebook every single member of the New York State Senate.
I don’t care if they say they support the bill or not. Every single member of the New York State Senate needs to step the hell up and work this out…TODAY.
Here is all of their information. EVERYTHING.
Now, what I am about to tell you is the ugly truth. Some people are saying they support raising the age, but they are lying. I spoke last night with several State Senators who told me that many Democrats are saying publicly that they support it, but that behind the scenes they are either doing absolutely nothing to make sure it passes or worse – actually working against it.
Because of that, I am asking you to contact EACH AND EVERY member of the New York State Senate.
