Who We Are
In Louisiana and Mississippi, the two states with the highest incarceration rates in the world, Innocence Project New Orleans frees innocent prisoners, exposes injustice and prevents wrongful convictions. IPNO has won the freedom or exoneration of 29 wrongfully convicted prisoners. These men served over 610 years in Louisiana and Mississippi’s prisons between them. More >>
Causes/Cures
In approximately 16% of Louisiana and Mississippi’s exonerations, the defendant has either made allegedly incriminating statements, confessed to the crime or pled guilty, in spite of their innocence.
