In 2023, Hamilton achieved unprecedented economic milestones by setting a new record for building permit values, reaching $2.55 billion. Commercial and industrial permit values also reached $700 million, making it the second-best year on record. These remarkable figures underscore the resilience and diversity of Hamilton’s economy, reflecting renewed and sustained investor confidence in our city.
Amidst this bustling economic activity, the City of Hamilton has introduced strategic initiatives to shape our growth trajectory in the coming years. Finalized strategies spanning Life Sciences, Manufacturing, Foreign Direct Investment, Workforce Development, and the forthcoming Goods Movement blueprint lay the foundation for the city’s economic future.
