Sources in the institute said a general body meeting of the faculty forum was organised on campus Thursday, where its members again expressed anguish at the "lack of action" by the institute.
On Thursday, they returned to work after assurances from Police Superintendent Suresh Kumar and District Magistrate Vipin Kumar Mishra that action will be taken against those involved.
Ambhuj Kumar Ojha, media in charge, VHP, said that though earlier the target was one lakh, the organisation now aims to draw about five lakh people to the event.
A letter signed by faculty forum convener Veejendra K Yadav and sent to Karandikar, the meeting was attended by 130 faculty members who expressed their “deep anguish at the lack of action by the institute after a previous resolution on the same”.
While the PSP-L has planned a ‘dangal’ in Etawah apart from several other activities, the SP said it will celebrate in a “simple manner”, with party president Naresh Uttam having issued instructions to all district and city units to mark the day with ‘Vichar goshti’.
Additional SP Ashok Kumar Rai said, “Nine persons including Shyam Babu were taken to the police station for questioning in the early hours of Wednesday. All were released later. No arrests have been made so far... dekhein un logo me koi compromise hota hai (let’s see if there can be a compromise),” said Rai.
Kishore, who is also president of the party’s Anusuchit Morcha in Uttar Pradesh, said they will prove that it is only the BJP that has achieved the mission of B R Ambedkar, as compared to BSP president Mayawati, “who just took his name, constructed memorials, but did not work on his policies”.
Shivpal announced a “grand” political rally to be held at Rama Bai Ambedkar ground in Lucknow on December 9. The rally, to be organised by his outfit and the BMP, also has the support of the Bahujan Kranti Morcha (BKM).
The proposed “suposhan” (complete nourishment) centres would be established by the chief welfare department in Chitrakoot, Chandauli, Fatehpur, Sidharthanagar, Sonebhadra, Bahraich, Balrampur, Shravasti, Sitapur and Gonda districts. Bahraich will have the most number of centres (14).
The prosecution said that on February 25, 2010, two local residents — Khaleel and Sarfaraz — got into an argument while playing volleyball in the village. Hours later, the convicts reached Khaleel’s house and opened fire, leaving four persons injured.
