A little show and tell…

Hello

School holidays are once again over. This time we visited the Vic Market at night.  Boy was that super busy. There were buskers with fire sticks and fire pits, loads of food, a silent disco (great fun to watch!) and some nice crafty stalls to visit.  We went a little later so we just grabbed a dessert.  We also visited the Werribee Zoo with one of Ms A’s friends where we once again went on the Safari bus.  I really wanted to visit the Melbourne zoo to see the updated lion enclosure however Ms A wanted to go to Werribee (again!).

I was also busy at the sewing machine and with my knitting needles.  I do have a few card projects  a friend has requested to, however they are still on my “To do” list.

I finished the HST quilt I shared a little while back.

finished size is 84 cm x 100 cm.

I followed the shape of the squares/diamonds to quilt just to try something a little different.  I’m probably breaking all sorts of quilting rules!

Ms A (12) and Ms S (17) put in a few requests for new clothing.  The following are a combination of fabric from my stash, a trip to spotlight and fabric recently given to me by a good friend.

Two pair of pj shorts for Ms S, a skirt and 2 pair of long PJ pants for Ms A.


I have also cut out a few other garmets which are yet to be sewn up.  I’ll have to share those another day.

The 2 misses also found 3 dresses which needed new zips. After Ms A removed the zips I did my best to insert new zips.  Not my favourite thing to do I must admit. Sorry no pics of those.

And finally a little knitting from yarn that I have been given.

A dog coat for the lost dog’s home.  I still have one of these on a set of needles which with swimming and netball training in the next few nights I hope to get finished so I can drop these in.

TWIST lots of colour

Unstampabelles Challenges

My card was inspired by this card by Therese at Lostinpaper.  I don’t think I am alone in holding onto little slivers of pattern paper!  This was a great way to use some of them up and I got to use lots of colour at the same time and every birthday is special.

I used some double sided adhesive sheets to attach my stripes of paper then cut down slightly for my card front. I finished with glittery sentiment die cut using Stamplorations and PTI dies.

A few HST…

Today I’m sharing what I have been doing with HST (half square triangles).

They are rather addictive!

First up this chevron quilt in yellow & grey approximately 80cm x 105 cm

I started with 5″ squares and used the Missouri Star Quilt company method to make the HST.

I also finished a jumper for me

This is a Hi-Lo Hem jumper from Cleckheaton Women’s Merion Collection book. I used BWM Luxury 8 ply.  I was a little worried I might run short but have ended up with 97g (about half a ball) left.

Next on the creating front is a HST quilt for a friend and to tackle the huge amount of pp! I must cut it and use it 🙂 Oh and to knit some more dog coats for the Lost Dog’s Home.

I used my SU Large Letters to die cut “DAD” in my pattern paper. I added foam to the back and placed them back in the spaces.  The trick was not to mix up the “D’s”.

The twist is to add an animal so I opened up some kaisercraft wood pieces that have been sitting unloved on my desk for far to long!

A significant birthday…

Hello

Recently we went to a significant birthday party for a friend of ours.  When someone at the party asked me how long I had known the birthday girl I was a little shocked that it is close to 30 years. Boy time flys.

Here is the card I made

I used my SU letters for the birthday girl’s name along with  cookie cutter punch, owl punch, fox punch and Papersmooches Hullabalo to make my “Liz”.  I used an embossing folder to create the background and my sentiment is from Cool treats.

The birthday girl is a great athelete competing in iron women events, various runs/marathons and stair runs (running up stair wells of very tall buildings). We meet when my hubby was competing in triathalons.  After so long mixing with these fit people it hasn’t rubbed off on me!

Hopefully you can see my idea of a water sport themed card.

A finished baby quilt…

Hello

This little quilt went off to the not so new bub this week.

Bub is 9 weeks old. Boy time flys I would have sworn he was only 3 or 4 weeks old!

This quilt measures 84 x 100 cm.

I had finished the top a few weeks ago however I didn’t have enough fabric to complete the binding.  The closest fabric/craft store closed earlier in the year due to an airoplane accident.  Devastating for the families/people involved.  I did find time recently to make a trip to a store a little further away and luckily they had the same fabric which I used on the backing which I purchased to make the binding.  Other fabrics include Circus by Jodie Carleton.

Oh baby…

Hello

 I’m popping in today to share a few baby cards.

Last week was a busy week with 2 friends from knitting group becoming grandmothers, my cousin became a grandma for the second time and one of my book club buddies welcomed another into her extended family.

One of my friends asked me to make a card.  So I made several. Sorry this is going to be a bit of a pic overload. Cause when I have everything out and I can’t decide I just get on a roll.  Especially with the Noah’s Ark.  Decided to make a few colour ways as I coloured up a few images at once.

Using ABS digital paper (the stripes match the shorts on the mood board), SU Made with Love, Su Baby’s first framelits and Simon Says Stamp baby.

Using Papersmooches Fascinators to create a shelf, ME Carnival Cupcakes & dies with digital pattern paper and ME just hatched.  Do you think the little creatures are to straight? I wanted them to look like they are sitting on a shelf maybe the little rabbit should be leaning to one side. What do you think?

This one uses PTI Sweet baby, SSS baby, stitched dies and circle dies.

This is the one she chose. SU Two by Two coloured with alcohol markers die cut with circle die and layed onto doily die.

I stamped and coloured a few images while I had the markers out and made a few for my stash.

I recently resigned from my part time job so today is my first day I would normally be at work.  I have applied for a few jobs. So what am I going to do in the meantime? After a little bit of tiding up I plan to turn on the sewing machine and maybe make another card or two.  I finished a quilt last week which I will share another day. I started another one some time ago and would like to make some progress on it.
