Three years ago the 60 odd members of RIANZ (Recording Industry Association of NZ) voted on a restructuring proposal to merge with royalty collection/distribution society PPNZ and become a single entity - called Recorded Music NZ (RMNZ). At that time, as a RIANZ member ($350 per year), I voted against that proposal. Find out why and some ideas for the future. -

Street Chant have released their latest video for 'Insides' - which features the band living out their high life dreams in the less glamorous surrounds of suburban Auckland flats.
The video premiered over on Brooklyn Vegan, who wrote there’s nary a dull moment in its 40-minute running time that swerves from punky rippers (including fantastic 2012 single “Sink,” the only oldie here) to janglier/scrappier fare that has more in common with New Zealand’s indie rock history.

To celebrate we have a lot of things planned, including a very rare performance by none other than Peter Jefferies - who will be celebrating the RSD release on vinyl of his LP At Swim 2 Birds. Yumi Zouma have announced their debut album, Yoncalla, via Gorilla vs. Bear along with the first single, “Keep It Close To Me.” The record is due out May 27th on Arch Hill in NZ/AU (Cascine in the US and Rallye in Japan). The band will embark on a tour in support of Yoncalla that stretches across New Zealand, North America, Europe and Japan starting next month.
