Well, that’s what I get for trying to take some time off.  I was going to extend my sabbatical for another week, since Barbara is up in Seattle visiting her brother, and I’m well-stocked on hookers and blow – and then some Freeper has to post THIS :

Earlier today, here at Townhall and on Fox News, I said that more information needed to be gathered before anyone should declare the Donald Trump, Jr. story a bombshell or a dud. First and foremost, I argued, it would be very helpful to see the actual emails that preceded the now-infamous June meeting, which the New York Times claimed would demonstrate that the president’s son was well aware of the alleged source and nature of the promised anti-Clinton information (which never materialized) in advance.

The Times story was rooted in unnamed sources who characterized, but apparently did not produced, the messages in question. In order to determine if the documents were being mischaracterized, we should see them, I said. About an hour later, Donald Trump, Jr. tweeted the full four-page exchange, which Cortney relayed here. Trump Jr. cast his tweets as efforts at full transparency, but one can’t help but wonder if there was another pressing motive at play: He preempted the Times, which had the chain and was about to run with it. In any case, the content of these emails was, in my case, literally jaw-dropping.

Trump Jr’s associate alerted him to the supposed existence of highly sensitive information regarding wrongdoing tied to Mrs. Clinton, telling him that it would be furnished by a “Russian government attorney” who was representing “Russia and its government’s support for Mr. Trump” (who now claims she wasn’t tied to the Kremlin). To which Trump Jr. replied, “if it’s what you say I love it.”

This couldn’t be much clearer: And these shifts look really bad, especially when you read the quote from March in which Trump Jr. flatly denies meeting with any Russian nationals in arranged meetings: .

This will not be good for him. I understand his frustration with Morning Joe, and they used to be his friends, so the way they treat him must hurt, but this is going to lead to a negative news cycle that he didn’t need. We were exposing CNN. Now CNN has something to report on and distract from. 

I saw the first Tweet and thought it should be removed before he posted the second. Sure, the internet is forever, but when something is deleted it’s a tacit admission of a mistake. I was hoping someone would stop him.

The second one is worse. I just think this comes off badly and will give him a negative news cycle when the news was taking a beating from all their false reporting and O’Keefe’s tapes.

It’s clear once again that Trump doesn’t really understand how solar works. From his words, he appears to believe the mere production of energy will somehow generate revenue, ignoring the fact someone has to buy the energy it produces. He didn’t explain who would be dong that – was he planning to sell the power to Mexico? The poor residents of south Texas border towns? Who will be purchasing the electricity and at what price?

The lone gunman behind the casino attack that left 37 dead in Manila last week was in debt and had a gambling problem, Philippine police say.

Jessie Carlos Javier, a 42-year-old man from the Philippines, was identified as the suspect in last week’s attack in the Philippines capital, said Oscar Albayalde, police chief for the Manila area.

Carlos was separated from his wife and had been laid off from his job. Recently, he was banned from entering all casinos at the request of his wife, according to Southern Police District Chief Tomas Apolinario Jr.

Police believe Carlos, who died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, acted alone. ISIS had claimed responsibility for the attack Friday, but officials have repeatedly denied it was terror-related.

“This is the truth. This is all the truth,” Albayalde told reporters as authorities gave details of the lone assailant.

Robert Morrow It’s not about money! At $345k a year income the site takes in 50 times more than it needs to operate so giving more will not fix the problem. The problem is how the forum is hosted. Until that mindset changes there will be no improvements regardless of how generous people are.

 Bob Park The level of revenue isn’t the issue… it’s how its being used. Apparently, its not being used to do required/routine hardware upgrades/maintenance like it should. People are being paid salaries, but the proper procedures aren’t in place to deal with these situations… if they were, the thing would be back in operation day one. More money isn’t going to fix human caused problems.

Robert Morrow I guess you haven’t noticed the snails pace of the recent freepathons. It is affecting the bottom line and after this extremely long outage how likely do you think people will be to give more when the site goes down every time critical events happen when it’s needed the most. Your logic is not sound. I want to see FR do well and be profitable but to do so going forward it must do things differently even if that means less money in their pockets for a while.

In a series of early-morning Twitter posts, Mr. Trump even seemed to suggest that there may be secret tapes of his conversations with Mr. Comey that could be used to counter the former F.B.I. director if necessary. It was not immediately clear whether he meant that literally or simply hoped to intimidate Mr. Comey into silence.

“James Comey better hope that there are no ‘tapes’ of our conversations before he starts leaking to the press!” Mr. Trump wrote on Twitter.

In other breaking news, water appears wet!

over news reports on Friday that focused on contradictory accounts of his decision to fire Mr. Comey at the same time the F.B.I. is investigating ties between Mr. Trump’s associates and Russia.

Spouting off –

Hi all! Just flew back from the Yucatan, and boy are my arms tired!

A short “Obsession” follows, but first – what I did on my summer vacation :

Barbara and I went on a snorkeling trip, but only for the boat ride and not to go snorkeling (Inah reef is pretty much dead now). The trip goes from Puerto Adventuras, North around 10 miles along the coast.

The Piratas de Tejas is a 75-foot V-hull and not a catamaran, so it’s pretty susceptible to the wave action that is mostly nonstop in the channel between the Yucatan and Cozumel island, and it was a pretty rough ride. For some reason, the crew were playing Spanish language rap and techno (as if any of the 20-odd passengers were going to be dancing around instead of just hanging on) all the way out.

We stopped South of the reef, and the snorkelers were herded into a bait ball and led over to the reef. Barbara and I took advantage of the wind, stillness, and impossibly blue water to relax and chat with the other non-snorkelers, and have some ice-cold beers.

After the touristas were loaded back on and lunch served, we headed back.
That’s where it got a little strange.
At first, it was just blue skies and mile after mile of jungle as we made our way back South.

Then I saw something interesting in the storm clouds that were forming up ahead. Something very interesting.

Quoth I – “Look! A waterspout!”

Everyone rushed over to where I was to take a look. One passenger looked down at the side of the ship – I guess he thought I meant water was spouting out of the boat.
They all gasped, and I proclaimed that since I was the first to see the developing water tornado were were heading directly for, I got to name it.
 .
I dubbed it : “Brussels”!
 .

Then two more formed, making three waterspouts now crisscrossing the Caribbean, dead ahead.
Yep – we’re still heading straight for them.
The Captain came down and told not to worry, then crossed himself twice and bit into his own clenched fist as he left us. Funny boy.

Then the music (which had mercifully been changed to classic rock earlier) changed again.
 .
First – AC/DC’s “Thunderstruck”.
 .
Then CCR’s “Who’ll stop the rain?”
 .
Finally, “My heart will go on” from “Titanic”.
.
Like I said. Funny boy.

As an adviser to Trump’s presidential campaign, and later one of Trump’s top aides in the White House, Flynn was privy to some of the most sensitive foreign-policy deliberations of the new administration and was directly involved in discussions about the possible lifting of sanctions on Russia imposed by the Obama administration.

He has made the offer to the FBI and the House and Senate intelligence committees though his lawyer but has so far found no takers, the officials said. Flynn’s attorney, Robert Kelner, declined to comment.

They wanted a complete repeal, and many would accept nothing less. In the end, no-one got their wish. As Speaker Ryan admitted this afternoon, “we are going to be living with Obamacare for the foreseeable future.” This, in part, because the Trump Administration refuses to have its agenda held hostage. It is sidelining healthcare and moving forward with tax reform.

Democrats are celebrating Republican missteps. And the collective finger-pointing within the Republican establishment has already begun in earnest. An early contender for sacrificial lamb is Speaker Ryan.

Today on Tommy T’s Obsession with the Freeperati – stealth gay dating site edition

Morning, all!

I’m still collecting Freeperville threads about the The Darnold’s Very Bad Week of warrants and wiretaps, but I can give you the Cliff’s Notes version right now.

1.  It’s fake news and none of it happened.

2. It’s real news, but it’s bad for Obummer, NOT for The Darnold.

3. It’s bad news for Obummer, because he personally ordered both the FBI AND the Federal FISA judge to put on hoodies and egg/toilet paper Mar-a-fucko. This will result in the Kenyan sharing a cell with Shillary any day now.

4. There’s an innocent explanation for all this – the Russians were just paying their rent at Drumpf Tower, and apparently they send the money over the phone.

(think I’m kidding about that last one? Just wait until next Monday)

Meanwhile, my fair city of Carrollton is in the news again. For the usual reasons.

A Carrollton couple believes hate was the motivation for an early morning crime that targeted their home, their mailbox and their rainbow pride flag.

Police say Thursday morning just before 3:30 a.m. someone ripped the couple’s gay pride flag from the side of their home on Longwood Drive, stuffed it into their mailbox at curbside and lit it on fire using several neighbors’ mail as kindling.

Markus Maguire and his husband, Wilson Nash, awoke Thursday morning to find their flag missing, just a piece of the broken wooden poll still in its holder. Their next-door neighbor then discovered the remains of a fire in their open mailbox.

Carrollton police investigators discovered several pieces of burned mail inside, along with the flag, balled up and charred in the very back.

The flag sustained only a few burns because the perpetrators actually closed the mailbox after lighting the fire, and the flames quickly subsided due to lack of oxygen.

Neighbors with surveillance cameras discovered video that captured what looks like a light-colored van pulling up to the house, a person pulling the flag down and then the vehicle leaving briefly before returning a few minutes later so someone could set the fire.

Other residents in the area believe they captured the same van, which they don’t recognize, making multiple passes through their streets over about a 30-minute period.

Maguire and Nash, who have lived in the area for about two years, say they believe the crime was a clear act of hate.

“It was actually a target at us,” Maguire said. “It was absolute hate, and they meant to do it.”

Carrollton police representative Jolene DeVito said Friday that the department is looking for other neighbors in the area who may have caught better images of the crime and the person responsible.

DeVito said that with all of the factors in the investigation, including arson and the involvement of the U.S. mail, the crime could potentially qualify as a hate crime, a federal offense – though detectives are still early in their investigation at this point.

Maguire and Nash said the outpouring of support from their neighbors has been the one positive to come out of the situation, with people actively helping them search for evidence and some even hanging rainbow flags in front of their own homes in solidarity.

Maguire said they personally wasted no time getting their pride flying again, by going straight from filing the police report Thursday to purchase a new flag.

“We found out at about 8 o’clock, and by 12 had a new one up,” he said.

“And if they try to take it down again we’ll put another one up,” Nash said.

Carrollton police ask anyone with information in the investigation to contact them right away at 972-466-3333.

Probably 2-1 against. The Obama and Carter judges will go against Trump, the Bush one in his favor.Despite that, I do have a respect for the Carter-appointed judge that heard this case. He has the right temperament for a judge; the Obama one is a huge hack.
