Star Wars Book Chat Day 5: The Great Jedi Rescue

Today is the day! The High Republic Books have launched! My goal today was to pick up Light of the Jedi at my local Target drive up and my order got canceled twice!  They are sold out at all my local shops. It's great to see so much excitement for the series.

I was really happy however to get The Great Jedi Rescue in the mail. The book is young readers adaption of the first view chapters of "Light". It includes the fate of The Republic ship The Legacy Run and the Jedi that come to help the people of Hetzal Prime. 

The rest of the story involves many of the Jedi characters we will see in Phase One of the High Republic launch.

And Stickers!! My laptop is already sporting The High Republic logo and now I'm thinking of where I will put my amazing Burryaga sticker! 

This is a such a fun read and a nice primer for all the characters that will cross paths in the various books.

Star Wars Book Chat :4 High Republic Launch Event

The High Republic virtual launch event debuted online today and you can watch the entire event HERE. I really loved this event. The Round table of authors and Creative Director Michael Siglain ,was moderated by Kristin Baver. The panel shared the origins of of the massive publishing initiative that kicks off tomorrow. 

The authors shared fun experiences and teased many of the upcoming stories. I will have to re-watch the entire event again to get all the announcements straight but here are some of my favorite reveals:

Character Crossover

There will be some characters moving from the written page to the High Republic comic book.

Yoda & His Crew

We learned a lot about Daniel Jose` Older shared a bit about Yoda taking a group of padawans on a journey in an academic cruiser. We also learned about the Character Buckets of Blood. You HAVE to watch Danie explain this character that is probably going to be many's obsession.

Long Range Plans

It was exciting to learn that  the High Republic initiative has many phases and here are the first three:

Phase One: Light of the Jedi

Phase Two: Quest if the Jedi

Phase Three: Trials of the Jedi

So much goodness coming and The High Republic will get it's own show to explore and dive deeper into the multi platform EVENT. Did you watch the event? What did you think?

SW Book Chat Day 3: Star Wars Annuals from Egmont Books.

Two years ago I discovered the Star Wars Annuals  at Book Depository these hardback volumes contain puzzles and coloring pages with a variety of Star Wars Characters. I loved this one because it had a lot of content from the characters in The Freemaker Adventures.

There are also Annuals for the live action franchise. This book focuses a lot on The last Jedi and Rogue One. These annuals sell out really quickly so keep an eye out for them early in the year. By the time I looked for the 2019 volumes they were completely sold out, but I did manage to get the 2020  annual at Abe Books :
