Spanish prime minister Mariano Rajoy said on Thursday that he will ask the Constitutional Tribunal to declare as unconstitutional the law adopted on Wednesday by the Catalan parliament to organise an independence referendum on 1 October, and to ask Catalan officials to prevent the vote. "There will be no referendum of self-determination in Catalonia," he said after an emergency cabinet meeting.
