Former Catalan leader defends referendum role
By EUOBSERVER
Former Catalan leader Artur Mas on Monday appeared in high court in Barcelona. Mas is facing a 10-year prison sentence for organising a non-binding referendum for Catalan independence in November 2014. Mas told the court that he had no intention of "committing any crime or disobeying anyone”. Spain's Constitutional Court had ruled against the referendum only days before it was held.
