Sweden sues EU Commission for authorising toxic paint

Sweden is suing the European Commission for having authorised the sale of a pigment that includes lead chromate, a suspected carcinogen, despite less toxic alternatives being available. Stockholm says the case could undermine efforts to phase out toxic substances through Reach, a sweeping EU law on chemicals safety.
