…but only one of its walls … 🙂

Here comes one of my favourite corners of the house – the sewing-machine corner 🙂

I love it for the old Singer that my mom’s mom used to sew on. It’s like 100 years old!!!

I love it for the Bourgie lamp by Ferruccio Laviani for Kartell.

I love it for the baroque mirror (Ilva) and the Philippe Starck radio (for 50 EUR) 😉 – yes that cream coloured plastic cone-shaped thing that you see on the first picture is a radio 😉

I also love this corner for the holy icon and the small souvenir plate from Israel.

To the right from the Singer corner comes our fireplace – highly appreciated during long winter evenings that sometimes seem to be never ending…

Further to the right you’ll find my favourite picture shelves from IKEA where I keep two flat teak sculptures from an antic shop in Thailand. Below the Thai accents you can spot my holiday pictures from Rome, London and some place in the Austrian Alpes 😉

I cannot wait to show you more of my small, cosy place I proudly call home 😉

GB NUove Linee Bagno is one of those bathroom furniture manufacturers, which not only follows the latest fashion trends but also combines them with ancient traditions of Italian furniture. The Artemide collection comprises among others a washstand made from French-polishing wood, decorated with thin layers of gold!!!

And a close-up:
In my own bathroom I would certainly not go for an all-baroque look but I can easily imagine using the sink cabinet and the matching storage unit from the picture below placed in a plain modern black and white bathroom 🙂 Cool!
I guess I would go for a result like this:

Rumours say that fashion in autumn 2010 will be all about baroque. Here’s what I’ve found as the first accessory for the upcoming season.

It’s called “Moonlight” and it’s designed based on inspirations from the great Danish silver craftsman – Georg Jensen.

Strong pink accents

Take a look at these highly energetising interiors! Bright pink and red accents make their own strong statement and invigorate their inhabitants.

See the wall below? What a great idea to add colour to a room, define the space (e.g.: jewellery corner) and display art – all at the same time and with little effort. What not to love?

If I should find a synonym for these rooms it would probably be a “strawberry sorbet”…for others “pink candy floss” or “cherry tree in bloom”. Do you also get the feeling? 😉

I just love the pink floor below that stays in perfect harmony with the girlish fridge from Smeg.

White with wooden accents

What a wonderful, almost sacred combination of white walls, floors, ceilings and furniture – with only very modest dark brown wooden accents here and there.

Very disciplined interior, inviting to take a rest in its undisturbed surroundings…great to contemplate about on an early Sunday afternoon. 🙂

If it was possible to justify changing a room’s furniture and accessories every so often then I would definitely fall for the following room outfit today 🙂

I’m fascinated by the energy coming from the constellation of old, vintage pieces of furniture mixed with even just a single element of modern design; especially sth in bright colours or a startling print or pattern.

As an ever-ready reminder of the importance of ‘the now’, the Chrono-Shredder shreds each day in real time. Designed by Susanna Hertrich who mentions that time is irreversibly lost and that as time passes by, the shredded remains of the past pile up under the device.

A tribute to Heidi’s letters :o)

This post is a special tribute to Heidi‘s constant capability of renewing her house’s interiors with letters and digits.

If you have similar cravings like Heidi and myself as well you should definitely visit the Kidimo shop in Paris. It’s a Mekka for all professional and amateur designers who prefer spicing up their interiors with letters, especially vintage ones.

Nicolas Flachot and Thierry Bruere, who run the shop, travel throughout the whole Europe in search for single unique letters and whole words or phrases. Their motto is „no mass production” since each letter is different, has its own story and individual form.
