The caption was given as "Johann Wilhelm Stadler", a different composer altogether (though contemporary). The dates were correct. I have checked the portrait with several sources and it does appear to be of the abbé Stadler.
[I am also altering 'Abbot Stadler' to abbé Stadler as he wasn't an abbot in the normal English sense of the word. Add.
