Alphabet Inc. is a holding company and conglomerate created in 2015 that will directly own several companies that were owned by or tied to Google, including Google itself. The company will be based in California and be headed by Google's co-founders, Larry Page and Sergey Brin, with Page serving as CEO and Brin as President.[4] Alphabet's portfolio will expand through several industries, including technology, life sciences, investment capital, and research. Some of its subsidiaries will include Google, Calico, Google Ventures, Google Capital, Google X, and Nest Labs. Following the restructuring Larry Page will become CEO of Alphabet while Sundar Pichai will take his position as CEO of Google. Shares of Google's stock will then be converted into Alphabet stock, which will trade under Google's ticker symbols of "GOOG" and "GOOGL". From Alphabet Inc.'s Wikipedia Page.

Eric Emerson Schmidt (born April 27, 1955) is an American software engineer, businessman, as well as the executive chairman of Alphabet Inc..[4] In 2013, Forbes ranked Schmidt as the 138th-richest person in the world, with an estimated wealth of $8.3 billion.[5]
As an intern at Bell Labs, Schmidt did a complete re-write of Lex, a program to generate lexical analysers for the Unix computer operating system. From 1997 to 2001, he was chief executive officer of Novell. From 2001 to 2011, he served as the CEO of Google. He served on various other boards in academia and industry, such as the boards of trustees for both Carnegie Mellon University and Princeton University.[6][7][8]
