Faculty Expertise
Cristiane Pilon, Associate Professor in Row Crop Physiology was awarded the Early Career Award from the American Society of Agonomy (ASA) Southern Regional Branch.
The ASA Early Career Award recognizes individuals who have made an outstanding contribution in agronomy within seven years of completing their final degree (B.S., M.S., Ph.D.).

J. Michael Moore, Extension Agronomist (tobacco) was awarded the Lifetime Century Award by the Tobacco Growers Association of North Carolina at its Annual Meeting in Raleigh, N.C.
As a tobacco specialist, Moore has coordinated the educational efforts of a team of specialists which have worked together to provide agents and growers alike the most up-to-date and factual information on tobacco production, harvesting, curing and marketing available.

Dr. Glen Harris, (pictured at right) a University of Georgia Extension soil fertility specialist in Tifton, received the Georgia Peanut Research and Education Award last week at the 47th annual Georgia Peanut Farm Show and Conference in Tifton.
Harris is a long-term member of both the UGA Extension peanut and cotton teams, working closely with county agents and growers through education and addressing soil fertility issues.
Presenting the award is Joe Boddiford, Georgia Peanut Commission chairman (pictured at left).
Student Achievement
Students in the Crop and Soil Sciences department attended the 2024 American Society of Agronomy Southern Branch Meeting in Atlanta, Georgia. It was an excellent opportunity for students to present their research findings and talk with professionals in their area of research/interest.
