Had the good fortune to order a layer cake from Anu in assorted Indian fabric. It came wrapped like a gift pack and was an absolute delight to receive and open :)

This is a lovely quilt top that I made in the early part of the year! I loved it to the core, the HSTs, the colour combination, the solid fabrics…loved just about everything that went into making the quilt.

Then off it went to my friend Shruti, in Sangli who quilted it with the most beautiful FMQ paisleys that ever was…with a slightly shimmering ivory thread that takes the quilt to a whole different level. Hubby saw it for the first time and said “Now! This looks professional” and I just gave a satisfied smile like a proud mother being complemented on her kid’s nursery rhyme skills :)

A couple of quick pictures before it left the house. Here is the little one posing with the quilt, rather shying away.

The quilt is now gifted away to my cousin’s son for his birthday…

The quilt top will have only straight line quilting, hence the plan is to complete it before the end of the year.
November seems to have gone by so fast…its already mid-Nov and I have hardly started any large project. So now the speed has to double and I need to get to the Christmas sewing mode…

A quick glittery Indian fabric buying trip to the nearest store to make some Diwali cushions!
A last minute purchase…hope the cushions are ready on-time to add to the festivities.

These are actually 1m cuts of peach, purple and brown, but the play of sunlight on them with the glitter makes them look so different.

With that I bought some hard cotton iron on interfacing to try out some clutches, some 2.5m of black that I want to convert into a dupatta and some pink Anchor embroidery floss for some slow hand embroidery.

Kristy from Quiet play has the most amazing paper piecing patterns. I was lucky enough to be a pattern tester for the new feather pattern.

Its beautiful and the small pieces that look so intimidating come together beautifully. I have tried looking for feather printed fabric but to no avail, hence will be using leaf fabric from Sunday Stash #44 along with this. The colour scheme also matches :)

Feather

Maybe now for some more feathers in colorful rainbow tones! I feel so addicted :)
Each side took me an hour to finish…lets see if I can make it move faster in the subsequent ones.

Lovey Indian leaf fabric in blue to match a feather patterns I am testing. I would have loved some fabric with feathers but they aren’t available currently and am too eager to complete the project so a quick run to get some of this :)
