THE BIG OBESITY THINGY.

All of my life it seems I have been concerned and even paranoid about my weight.
Even when I was a child I was always larger than most kids, not fat, but heavy.
Taking part in the sports day was a nightmare as I couldn't run to save my life.
Through my teens and after having the children, diets were a continual thing.  The 5 a day diet, the grapefruit diet etc and none of them worked for long.

Tom and I have eaten pretty much the same all through the years, so what I would like to know is, why has he stayed the same weight  and can eat pretty much anything and not get fat when all I have to do it look at a cake or bar of choccy and I put on pounds?

I do understand that a lot of kids now are obese and possibly the reason is that they are not active.
We used to be playing out in the street from dawn to dusk, running and cycling and its a shame that with the amount of cars now this isn't possible but I'm sure that eating is not always the reason for obesity.

We are all made differently and our bodies work in different ways.

I've got to the stage now when I'm not bothered any more.  I've thrown away the scales and seem to stay around the same weight.
Looking back I wish I'd done that years ago and not tormented myself thinking that I shouldn't be the shape I was.

What's your take on this subject?

LAUGHTER

Laughter decreases stress hormones and increases immune cells and infection-fighting antibodies, thus improving your resistance to disease. Laughter triggers the release of endorphins, the body's natural feel-good chemicals. Endorphins promote an overall sense of well-being and can even temporarily relieve pain.

And so with that in mind I have ordered the box set of 'Allo'Allo'
I watched a small bit on Youtube and laughed so much I thought I'd get the set.
Some days when Tom is not so good we need to keep positive and cheerful.  We've always seen the funny side of most things and this is important if we want our lives to remain happy.
No matter what is wrong, if we can laugh then we can get through anything.

By the way, the new mouth guard it apparently going to cost our daughter around £70.00
This doggie can get away with anything, lol

ALL OVER BACK TO NORMAL

Well I hope you all had the Christmas that you wanted.
We were still both not quite right over Christmas having had the lurgy but it was okay.
I'm not a fan of this celebration and look forward more to the new year and watching the new buds forming.  My honeysuckle is already giving me a bit of joy by showing lots of new buds. Next I watch for the Snowdrops and Crocus.

We've been down to the Optician's and got all the glasses sorted out.  We go to Vision Express, so nice and civilised.
We tried Specsavers once but felt like we were in a cattle market being shunted from tiny space to tiny space sitting crammed in shoulder to shoulder with others, not nice.

The Optician is now a firm friend of mine after he told me that I didn't look 72 years old,  I walked on a cloud for the rest of the day. lol

The Shopping centre was nice and empty so I'm not sure how the sales are going, certainly there were not many folks there yesterday.
I'm not interested in walking around the shops anymore, the only shops that hold an attraction for me are cafe's where I can sit and people watch with a nice cappuccino.

Now its back to the needlework and I'm so pleased with this cat.
This morning I have filled in the flowers with gold seed beads.
I am looking at more colouring patterns with a view to using them for embroidery, such a good idea.

I hope you all have the new year you want and enjoy .
I shan't be making any new  year resolutions,  only to take each day and make the most of it.

Be back after the holiday.

BIT OF EVERYTHING

I rang the head office of Argos and was informed that I could take the kettle back and get a refund and so that is what I did, not problems.
Thanks for your input.

On a completely different topic, I must share with you my experience with Marmite.
I have to admit that I often suffer from the glums.  I didn't used to but as I've got older and possibly with Tom not being well I have seemed to be suffering more than usual.
Recently I've taken to having a couple of slices of toast with (dare I say it, Butter ) and a generous amount of Marmite each morning.
Suddenly I've realised that I have been a lot more chirpier lately and it dawned on me that Marmite has a lot of B vits in it.

On looking this up on dear old Google I find that I'm not kidding myself but that it is actually a fact that a teaspoon of this wonder stuff can actually make a difference to our brains and help the glums and other brain connected things.

So I shall continue with this for my breakfast and hope that the good work its doing will continue.
--------
On the needlework front, I have completed the willow tree and just have to mount it onto a new page for the journal

And the cat is coming along nicely.

Got the ears done and couched the gold for the flowers, just got to decide what to fill the flowers in with.
The little holes in the nose will have diamontes in there but I will leave that until the end.

I really have no idea what I'm doing next it just comes to me after a bit of cogitating. lol
I'm sure the experts would say that you should draft out what colours etc you are going to use but that's not me.

Looks like its going to be a very cold wet weekend here.
Have a nice one where ever you are.

SMELLY KETTLE

Our kettle recently started to leak, we haven't had it that long but as nothing seems to be made to last we binned it and decided to buy another one.

In the past we've bought kettles of various prices and found that no matter how much you pay non of them seem to last any longer than the other.

We found a nice red one on Argos and as I like my bright colours we bought it.

Here it is, Cookworks £12.99

We bought it home and boiled water in it a couple of times to remove any newness from it then made our first cup of tea.
UGHHHHHHH,  It  tasted of plastic.
On to Google to see what to do.
It would seem that its a common thing as lots of people had posted the same problem.
One remedy was to use bicarb to remove the smell/taste, it did not work.
We tried boiling it a lot more times but no, still plastic tasting tea.
So we bit the bullet and bought another one made of glass like our last one.

Ahh, a decent cup of tea at last.
Now, what to do with the red one.
I think Argos are funny about replacements if they have been used, I've had dealings with them before so it would probably mean contacting the manufacturers.
Can I be bothered?
As I like to be hassle free I don't think I will.

Anyone else had the same problem?

ONE GOOD, THE OTHER NOT SO

I have finished the latest book from Robert Galbraith aka J.K.Rowling.
'Lethal White' is the title and I enjoyed this book a lot.
It's quite a tome but it held me to the very end.
This is the good.

Wish I could say the same about the film 'A Star is Born'.
This film has got mixed reviews.
It started off okay but by the end I couldn't wait to get out of the cinema.

On the home front.  My Grand daughter got through the first interview for Cambridge and today her Dad drove her up to the Uni in Cambridge for another couple of more in depth interviews.
She will know if she's got a place around about the middle of January.
She wants to study Politics and History.

One of the good things is that (would you believe it?) the cost of rooms is half that of most other universities.
Seems odd doesn't it when most of the students that go to Cambridge come from wealthy families.
Fingers crossed.
