The Museum offers a vast array of resources and information for educators. Revolutionize learning for yourself and your students and discover the fascinating past, present, and future of technological innovation.

Preparation and Support

Educators are encouraged to preview the Museum and familiarize themselves with our exhibitions and educational resources. Free admission for educators is provided upon presentation of valid faculty or staff identification; advance notice is appreciated.

Museum staff are always available to answer questions, assist with curriculum development, and help educators design successful and fun Museum visits for their students. Contact Sarah Bormann for a consultation.

Teachers' Toolkit

Find lesson plans and activities for use with students in grades 3 through 12. All lessons are aligned with California State and Common Core Standards, and with Next Generation Science Standards.

The Museum’s website contains a wealth of information for teachers and students to deepen their exploration of computing history before and after a visit. Online resources include:

• Pre- and Post-Visit Activities for grades 3 through 12
• Timeline of Computer History from the 1930s to today
• Digital versions of current and past exhibitions, including Revolution: The First 2000 Years of Computing
• Biographical information about the industry leaders who have been inducted into our prestigious Hall of Fellows
• The Museum’s YouTube channel, with videos of live events and educational programs held at the Museum

Teachers’ Advisory Council

The Computer History Museum is committed to developing educational resources that meet the needs of teachers and students at all levels, and values educators’ insight and feedback. The Teachers’ Advisory Council (TAC) works with Museum staff to develop and assess new programs; members also act as ambassadors for the Museum within their schools and the local education community. Past TAC projects have included developing teaching materials for use during self-guided school visits, improving online resources for teachers, and assessing needs for new exhibitions and educational initiatives.

TAC members are asked to commit for a full school year, starting in the fall. Interested educators, please contact Stephanie Corrigan.

CHM Educator Newsletter
