Barnstar[edit]

| Because as I said when casting this !vote, the effort you made to take that picture has to be recognized somehow. Daniel Case (talk) 20:58, 13 December 2016 (UTC) |
Behavioural context[edit]
Hi, thanks for this amazing picture File:Pied_kingfisher_(Ceryle_rudis_rudis)_female_eating_chick.jpg! Would you know what the chick is of, the same species? might be of use in some animal behaviour related article if the context is clearly understood. Shyamal L. (talk) 14:29, 7 January 2017 (UTC)
- I don't know for sure @Shyamal:. There were no other species around yet about 300 pied kingfishers nesting in the same area, so I make that 90%+ sure. I've researched the net and cannot find any mention of cannibalism for kingfishers. I didn't capture any swallowing, so I thought it was possible the bird is playing with the chick, but my wife saw the bird being swallowed. I'd love to know more, as would our guide - it was new to him. Charles (talk) 14:41, 7 January 2017 (UTC)
License violation by Indian government[edit]
You might be interested in checking out this postage stamp! No words! Shyamal L. (talk) 15:45, 29 March 2017 (UTC)

- Thanks @Shyamal:. Yes I was notified some weeks ago by a guy in India and have written to the Indian Postal Authorities, but no reply of course... I am visiting India in November - perhaps I will try again. Charles (talk) 19:08, 29 March 2017 (UTC)
- If you are visiting southern India, I will be happy to take you to some good birding places. Shyamal L. (talk) 04:20, 15 April 2017 (UTC)
- Hope you had a good trip to India.
I am guessing from your image stream that you did not get to southern India!PS: just saw the Black-hooded oriole picture, looking forward to seeing more of the southern specialities. Shyamal L. (talk) 02:41, 11 December 2017 (UTC)
- Hope you had a good trip to India.

| Archaeodontosaurus, Ikan Kekek, El Grafo, and Charles; you have all been very kind and helpful in showing how the VI and QI processes work (I'm nowhere near the FP level yet as you know) and giving me tips on taking better pictures. I know I have a lot to learn about photos. I do truly appreciate all your help. PumpkinSky talk 21:54, 1 April 2017 (UTC) |

Macedonian butterflies[edit]
Hi Charles, here are two more corrections : this one is Argynnis niobe (see the different arrangement of white marks and red background color on the hindwing), and that one is Satyrium acaciae (see for example the shape of the white postdiscal line near the inner margin). Were they also identified by your Bulgarian lepidopterist? Kind regards --LamBoet (talk) 21:16, 21 August 2017 (UTC)
- Yes, all were identified by him, but of course it will be me who has made the mistakes. I will be checking everything when he returns from holidays in ~ 10 days. It would be very nice if I had photographed Argynnis niobe as it was not on our species list for the tour. I do hope you know your stuff! Charles (talk)
- I do, but these are identifications you should be able to convince yourself of. Don't solely rely on other people ;-)
Than you...[edit]
... for this. It has been very illustrative. Have a nice new year! DPC (talk) 12:21, 28 December 2017 (UTC) =

Butterfly IDs[edit]
Hi Charles, I have seen that you reverted 3 of my corrections. I am afraid I have to insist: your "expert" is still wrong (I already gave arguments why, but I can again if you are interested), and if he insists about seeing adippe and pylaon on these pictures, then you should question his reliability as an identifier. I am sorry but we will have to re-revert... --LamBoet (talk) 05:23, 26 February 2018 (UTC)
- Go ahead. I haven't the energy for an edit war and cannot get him involved. Charles (talk) 10:02, 26 February 2018 (UTC)
