Don't miss the opportunity to register and join Sephardic Heritage International (SHIN) DC and partners for a rare evening of live Syrian Jewish music & Hanukkah treats, as we raise awareness of the Syrian and other refugee crises worldwide. SHIN's annual Hanukkah program is inspired by a Syrian Jewish narrative that Sephardic refugees began lighting an extra flame each night of Hanukkah to commemorate the security & tolerance they found in Aleppo, following expulsion from Spain in 1492.

Los Angeles based musician Asher Shasho Levy to be featured! He will perform the Aramaic, Hebrew, and Judeo-Arabic reperorie of his Halabi (Aleppian) Jewish community. This little-known facet of Syria's musical tradition is built around classical Arabic maqam with influences from Andalusian traditions and Levantine folk music
