Discover the dimensions behind your data
The Data Observatory is a pioneering data service that provides measurements of populations, jobs, commerce, and many other interesting location dimensions. Gain better understanding of the patterns and trends in your world's data with the Data Observatory and CartoDB.
Contact usA comprehensive resource for trusted 3rd party datasets. Using these services allows you to focus on your vision, and not spend time trying to find your next source of data.
Generate comprehensive analyses about one or many locations to find new associations and uncover hidden patterns. Simple elastic pricing makes it cost effective at any size.
Always on, always up-to-date, and always providing the results you need. The Data Observatory is the critical tool for deriving new value from your analysis of location data.
The Data Observatory is ready to blend, map, and publish. The Data Observatory is integrated into CartoDB, making it a quick addition to any of your workflows.
The Data Observatory is even more powerful when combined with CartoDB's other data services, like geocoding and routing. In this illustration, isolines, areas defined by walking distance to a central location, are calculated on the fly through user clicks. Data Observatory measurements are collected for each walking distance, giving the user a rapid way to explore different dimensions of the population at points of interest.
The Data Observatory enables you to use local and regional population measurements plus dynamic calculations of potential customers based on your direct input. In this example, a telecommunications company can quickly navigate their internal data on customer, store, and tower locations. To enhance their understanding of customer potential they have included multiple layers of Data Observatory measurements, including Household Income and Age distribution, allowing the viewer to narrow in on target customers.
The Data Observatory contains accurate recent and historical data for multiple measures of housing prices. Users can quickly access specific measures from past months or years to help build more informed predictions about trends and directions of cities across the USA. Combined with the CartoDB's Deep Insights interface library, you can quickly narrow in on where patterns mean the most to your decisions and plans for future business growth.

The Data Observatory is a core technology powered internally by CartoDB. The first release of the Data Observatory is currently available to Enterprise accounts through the CartoDB Editor and Platform. Users will also be able to access specific elements of the Data Observatory through our Data Services API.
Data Observatory measures are requested through the SQL interface in any Dataset or Visualization view. You can use the Data Observatory to quickly augment your existing datasets with new columns.
