Overview

Beamr offers as a fully scalable video optimization service in the cloud, which meets the capacity and schedule needs of studio-grade productions. The Beamr Video cloud service runs on the Amazon AWS infrastructure, and is accessible via REST APIs or cloud storage integration. Using cloud-based video optimization, customers benefit from cost-efficiency, scalability and seamless integration into their video processing workflow.

Optimizing video assets in the cloud has several important benefits over on-premise video optimization.

• No up-front CAPEX on expensive hardware
• Ability to pay exactly for the computing capacity used
• Very low price for evaluations and pilots

• Customers can easily handle surges in content, for example when purchasing a new video catalog, by temporary increasing usage capacity to meet the need
• To optimize the existing catalog quickly, burst capacity can be used for a short time, and then capacity can go back to normal to process the ongoing ingest.

Workflow Integration

The Beamr Video cloud service can be accessed remotely via a RESTful API. API calls are available to submit new optimization jobs, query their status, retrieve the output files, list ongoing optimization jobs and cancel jobs. The traffic is sent using https, and responses are formatted in json.

Beamr also offers custom integration with any private or public cloud that hosts the customer’s files. For files stored on S3, providing credentials for an S3 bucket to Beamr enables the service to retrieve files from the bucket, optimize them, and return them to the bucket, providing a seamless integration into an existing video processing workflow. Other cloud storage services can be supported in a similar manner.
