PPF with art

Hello Everyone!!!

I am so glad that this week I have a PC and I can show art. Life is busier than ever with being on the art committee. I am loving it soooo much and it is something I needed. Today, I helped make ginger bread houses for kids to decorate on Saturday. No, it is not part of the art committee, some extra help was needed so I joined in. Every year the library has 200 ginger breads houses, (made of graham cracker and icing) for kids to decorate and take home.  The task was fun and messy with lots of laughing. 

I am also getting ready for two exhibits. One, of the wall hangings of my sculpted leather  and the series I am doing "Black to White". This is a good exercise of not working with color, yet there is so much depth and visual concept. I am excited about the work.  

A big thanks to Eva and Kristen for hosting Paint Party Friday and to the artists who join in each week. All of you are a constant inspiration to me.

just happened I did not add the browns.

It is very interesting how it appeared to make great shadows. 

 Not quite finished with this one. Still needs some highlight on the trees. Lots of background texture.

This is one I showed before the Red. I like it better this way.

PC up and Running

Hi Everyone!

I guess I am up and running. Although this is a much cheaper PC than I had before, I mean like the quality or something. Still getting use to it. I was able o make a few changes to my website so come see how it looks. I have also add my Christmas Gift Certificates. They were such a great hit last year. They are perfect for stocking stuffers or just because you want to do something nice for some one.  Don't forget that Nicole's BeadBacking is NOT just for beading. PPF PC Crashed

Hi Everyone!

No art to show this week. My PC crashed and I am on Hubby's laptop. Yikessssss. I can't see the screen and the key board sucks. LOL  So I just want to let you know I will try to get around as soon as I can.

Oh I have a PC that will be ready next week. We have a great local PC girl on Bay street that is setting me up. Can you say credit card screaming at me. LOL Hey you have to do what you have to do.

PPF My Days Are OFF

Hi Everyone!

Well, my days are off. All day today I thought it was Thursday, ya know the day we on the west coast link up to PPF.  Haaa it is Friday!  It was a busy week with my new bathroom floor put in on Monday, Art Committee meeting on Tuesday, taught a beading class on Wednesday and then Thursday slow cooked ribs for Thanksgiving dinner. Not to mention the million other things I do. LOL. I will post photos of my finished bathroom next week.

I have been painting a black and white series. It is quite fun! Here are two pieces I finished this week.

The background has great texture and the black and white blended very well. I just like how this turned out.

This started out so differently. The background became this wonderful cracked texture and as I started to paint  all I thought of was the people in California and the fires. This is my tribute to those who have lost so much and so many.

Paint Pary Friday 11/16

Hi Everyone, 

I have had a long day. Up early, which is nothing new for me, to drive into Eugene. Uhhhgggg. It is the worst drive from Florence. However, groceries do have to be bought. LOL  Finally getting home to do website work. I have a new color of Nicole's BeadBacking. Well actually it is an old color brought back. Yayyyy Lavender. It is so pretty.   

I did attend my first meeting with the art committee with our library. This is going to be so much fun. 

I am honored to be apart of it.

Now for some art. Not much done this week. I have decided to paint a black and white series and this is the first of I think 10.

This looks so illuminating in real life.

Needed another abstract for an upcoming show.

OK, I was just not able to get any good photos of my leather display but at least wanted to show how it was set up. 

Two cases on either side of the isle.  

Glass and mirrors make up the cases so for me getting a photo was not good.

Paint Party Friday 11/9

Hi Everyone!

I just got home from the best bead meeting. I have a connection with each one of these amazing women that attend and feel so blessed to have them in my life. So because it is so late this will be a short read. Things seem to be going pretty well with life right now. Shhhh don't want to say that too loudly. LOL I have my first meeting for the Art Committee next Wednesday and I am excited about that. I have been making cabs and getting some painting in. As far as the watercolors. I am coming along with that slowly. It feels like I am not relaxed with it. So as I tell my students RELAX. For art this week.

I just love this kid. I am happy with the fingers and the nose.

but I love her face.

Paint Party Friday 11/2

Hi Everyone!

UPDATE!
I wrote this earlier today and in the mean time I have some great news. I have been asked to join the art committee for our Library. This is a big deal and I feel honored that I was asked. Oh I said, "Yes" 

Wow! I can't believe how busy I am. As of today I have my art showing in 4 different venues. I feel pretty blessed with that. Tonight hubby and I will go to The After Hours Block party at BeauxArts here in Florence. It is so much fun.

I did some watercolor inktense pencils on her sweater. 

His face just made me feel like he was a gentle man.

 I wasn't trying for a self portrait of my youth, however

I see the features in this one are mine. 

Especially the nose.

These two pieces are actually going to a friend of mine and her daughter who live in Eugene.

Well I am happy to say that two of my paintings are now on exhibit at the Florence Event Center. Jo Beaudreaux who owns the Florence art supply store is sponsoring the BeauxArts Fine Art Materials Invitational. These are the two paintings that I entered

PPF 10/26 Early Post

Hi Everyone!

I am posting very early for PPF. I am teaching how to make leather flowers today so I wanted to make sure I got this up an running. 

I also wanted to make a note to my readers who do not live in the US. What is happening here with our government, with the hate and violence, and now with the bombs being sent to people who disagree with the president, IS NOT the majority way of thinking. Something horrible is happening here and we may not always be the land of the free. It truly is a scary time in the US.

Now for art.

I was able to get some art done this week, even though we had to make several trips to Salem. It is a 3 hour drive one way. I am trying to take my stress and pour it into art. Well not the actual but creating to release the stress. That sounds better. LOL I am still enjoying my watercolor classes. They are not the type where you go in and paint a picture. They are techniques classes. Learn how to do this n that then go home and paint. I find that water color is a tricky medium and if you make a mistake you are pretty much SOL. LOL 

Here is what I did this week. 

Watercolor thsi was going from light to dark and then I added the skull in paynes gray.

Watercolor dark to light and I added salt to the background then played with different brushes to make this tree.

PPF 10/18

Hi Everyone!

Wow what a busy week. I am not kidding you. Everyday has been full.  So a big thanks to Eva and Kristin for hosting 

Paint Party Friday. 

I did some morning drawings, I practiced my watercolors and worked on this leather face. I really like this face. She is so delicate and she feels like she is from another world or another time. 

This is a quick draw about 8 minutes. 

This young girl is saying, " OH come on, really?" LOL
