US Senators Ask Trump to Show Who Is Buying Access to the “Winter White House” (Winter Palace?) | Mining Awareness +

“At $200,000, the Mar-a-Lago membership fee is financially out of reach for all but the wealthiest Americans and international elites,… These aren’t the hardworking Americans you’ve long said have been ‘forgotten’ and need to be heard once again in Washington. Mar-a-Lago members are the same class of ultra-rich that you’ve nominated to your Cabinet and surrounded yourself with at the White House. Your Winter White House will provide an audience with you for those who can afford it, not to mention an increasing cash-flow into your family-run organization. ” (Office of US Sen. Whitehouse, Feb. 3, 2017)

Reportedly the Trump administration calls Mar-a-Lago club the “Winter White House”. The name and the excesses of Trump’s New York Swamp administration and ties to Russia bring to mind Russia’s Winter Palace. Both Trump and his beloved Putin are out of step with history, and have forgotten past history. They are Tsar wannabes but We are not serfs. The Trump family missed the American revolution, and Trump’s mother was born the subject of King George V of Great Britain, who was the first cousin to the last Tsar Nicholas II. Things didn’t end well for the last Tsar. Trump and Putin need to read the history which they apparently slept through.

High radiation levels at Fukushima reactor is bad, bad news – CNET

A containment vessel at the destroyed Fukushima No. 1 power plant has reached off-the-chart radiation levels, reported the Japan Times. The reading of 530 sieverts per hour represents the highest level of radiation the reactor site has seen since three nuclear meltdowns hit the power plant in March 2011 almost six years ago — and also among the most deadly.

Steve Bannon and The dangers of “America First.” « Antinuclear

Not incidentally, “America First” was the name of the pro-Nazi group led by Charles Lindbergh that bitterly fought FDR before U.S. entry into World War II to keep America neutral between Churchill’s Britain and Hitler’s Reich.Trump’s and Bannon’s version of “America First” is no less dangerous. It is alienating America from the rest of the world, destroying our nation’s moral authority abroad, and risking everything we love about our country.Unsupervised by people who know what they’re doing. Trump and Bannon could also bring the world closer to a nuclear holocaust.

Cameco to lose $1.3bn as Japan’s TEPCO cancels uranium contract – Fukushima 311 Watchdogs

Such contract cancellation would affect about 9.3 million pounds of uranium deliveries through 2028, including about 855,000 pounds annually in 2017, 2018 and 2019, Cameco said.

Shares collapsed on the news. They were trading down 12.5% to Cdn$14.50 in Toronto at 1:00 pm, and 13.3% down in New York to $11.06 at 1:26 pm ET.Cameco said the Japanese power company has cited forces beyond its control — specifically government regulations arising from the 2011 Fukushima nuclear accident — that have prevented the operation of its nuclear plants.

Trump’s Wall Would Also Be Terrible for the Environment

Jamie Rappoport Clark, president and CEO of Defenders of Wildlife, similarly called the wall “a disruptive, artificial boundary in the natural world” in a Jan. 25 statement.Dan Millis, a program manager with the Sierra Club’s Borderlands project, also opposes the wall. “In terms of climate adaptation, building a border wall is an act of self-sabotage,” Millis told E&E News. “And the reason I say that is we’re already seeing wildlife migrations blocked with the current walls and fences that have already been built.”Those 670 miles of fences and barriers along Mexico’s border with California, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas were erected after the passage of the Secure Fence Act of 2006. In Texas, the wall blocks both people and animals from accessing the Rio Grande River, “an iconic and vital water source for communities and wildlife alike,” according to the Defenders of Wildlife.”At the border wall, people have found large mammals confounded and not knowing what to do,” Jesse Lasky, an assistant professor of biology at Penn State University, told the Washington Post.In addition to the possible extinction of some species, the production of cement used to build Trump’s wall would be a major source of greenhouse gas emissions.

Nuclear fuel likely melted through Fukushima reactor vessel- Nikkei Asian Review

Based on the “noise” in the images, the utility estimated that one area of the containment vessel was emitting radiation at a level of 530 sieverts per hour — enough to kill a human in under a minute. Only emissions up to 73 Sv/hour had been detected before at the reactor, which was crippled by a March 2011 tsunami.

Tepco previously believed that most of the reactor’s nuclear fuel had been contained in the pressure vessel, based on last year’s muon tomography inspection — a technique similar to X-rays but more powerful. But “it’s highly possible that melted fuel leaked through,” said Yuichi Okamura, a company spokesman for nuclear power.

Where is the dam corium, TEPCO?

It has taken this long to figure out that there is a hole in the bottom of the reactor and the grate 8 meters below the reactor vessel is MELTED AWAY, from falling molten corium, which is hotter than molten steel.

But they wont look down below, nor admit that multiple reactors suffered from a China Syndrome. Denial is not a river in Egypt.

Constitutional Crisis; Over 100,000 Visas Have Been Revoked by Immigration Ban, Justice Dept. Reveals – NBC News

The government says that all 109 travelers originally detained at airports last weekend have been released. But ACLU attorneys insisted that number is low; citing media reports and other evidence of more people being deported and simply disappearing somewhere between airports. Now, at least they know how many visas have been revoked. And the number is higher than anyone imagined.”Since this past weekend, CBP has demonstrated rank disregard for federal court orders limiting the January 27 Executive Order,” Mitra Ebadolahi, Border Litigation Project Staff Attorney at the ACLU, told NBC News. “It is clear that CBP believes it can operate with impunity and continue treating innocent travelers with callous and inhumane disregard for their basic rights.”

When the President and his agency heads ignore the Judicial Branch, this creates and is defined as a Constitutional Crisis. Will a dictator be able to run amok, and do whatever he pleases, along with a cabal of yes men that are hand selected for their ability to violate the Constitution and implement whatever racist policy the dictator in chief dictates via ‘executive order’?

If the Concept of Suffering Did Not Exist, Would You Suffer? | Heavenletters

A loved one’s Life ends, and grief walks in the door as an important guest, as if love without suffering could be downright insulting and heartless, as if being away from suffering would be a great act of selfishness and irresponsibility and unheard of. How craven of you, the world might say, not to suffer in a world of suffering, how base.In this life, it would seem that there is no substitute for suffering. Why major in it? Why spread Old Wives’ tales about it? Why make yourself an expert in suffering? Now make suffering an exception to the rule. Be free of it.Ah, suffering must be a tradition. There is much suffering passed on from one generation to another. Once upon a time, women’s feet were bound, and this suffering was accepted as necessary and virtuous. Once upon a time, scalps were collected. Once upon a time, children cried every night before they fell asleep. Too many matters were entwined and considered part of Life.Let’s define suffering differently. Now ask, what is suffering the absence of? Is it possible that possession and inheritance of suffering mean more to you than its absence? Are you possibly more loyal to suffering than to freedom from it?

Alternative Fact: The Holocaust was a Chinese Plot. Part 2

Climate Denial Crock of the Week

The issue: White House releases a (normally perfunctory, if solemn) ceremonial statement of recognition for International Holocaust Remembrance Day.
Trump White House conspicuously omits, in fact, as new report suggests, deliberately cut out – reference to Jewish people who were primary targets of the Nazi machine.

Neo Nazis around the world instantly recognize the dog whistle shout-out.

haaretzspencWhy do I post about this on a climate blog?
Because I’ve been pointing out the uncomfortable crossover between Neo-Nazis, racists, and climate denial, since I first launched the video series in 2009.
Inextricably linked, as the ABC News video above shows, for quite some time.
