Nobel literature laureate Kazuo Ishiguro has said that he hopes young writers can provide a new vision for the world to rally around in a time of great political uncertainty around the globe. The 63-year-old used his Nobel lecture on Thursday (December 7) to describe his life and work before commenting on everything from the war in Iraq to the 2008 financial crash and the recent rise in racism, which he referred to as a "monster awakening".
