White Christian men are a much bigger threat-and have always been-to Jews than anyone else. The trauma of anti-Semitism led to a coping method by which many Jews feel that befriending & embodying powerful white Christians can stave off anti-Semitism. Reality is proving them wrong

Wow what an anti-Semitic tweet! Said literally no one, except when it was tweeted by the first female Muslim member of Congress.

Is that culture of “strict performance” why Amazon workers have to urinate in bottles & work while on food stamps to meet “targets?” “Performance” shouldn’t come at the cost of dehumanizing conditions. That’s why we got rid of sweatshops.

Our real national emergency is Trump & McConnell’s racist lies about Latinx & Mexican immigrants. It’s their denial of healthcare, racist voter suppression, & addiction to low wage jobs, ecological devastation & militarism.

there is a weird assumption among socially conservative leftists that everyone would be having more kids if we had a stronger welfare state even though the Scandinavian countries they love so much also have declining birthrates

To be clear: trivial and pointless answers, things that bother YOU but aren’t actually serious are encouraged. My national emergency is chatty Uber drivers.

The French healthcare system is basically single-payer, but with copays, and then with (often) subsidized private coverage that (almost) everybody has that covers those copays. It’s not an alternative to single-payer, it is SP with a layer of superfluous bureaucracy / complexity

Problem with talking to Taliban minus Afghan gov't is that Taliban begin to sound like the gov't. Here, they're announcing Feb 18 talks in Pakistan: "Islamic Emirate will also meet PM Khan to [talk] about Pak-Afghan relations & issues pertaining to Afghan refugees & businessmen"

Women in Stockholm laughed when I used the term “working mother.” “I don’t think that expression exists in Swedish,” an urban planner and mother of two told me. “It’s not like there’s a ‘nonworking mother,’” she said. “I mean, what else would she do?”
