    A very positive step that will need to be backed up by action. If only Israeli leaders would make a similar gesture toward human rights defenders instead of working to silence, initimidate, and expel them.

    Today I met with a senior delegation from HRW, headed by and confirmed my government’s commitment to/ guarantee of the right of Palestinian citizens to free speech through constructive criticism. In this regard I emphasised that no arrests or persecution will happen.

    These were all basically GW Bush policies. Hardly a progressive agenda. Just goes to show how far to the right the whole discourse on Israel/Palestine has shifted in the US.

    I believe we can work on a progressive agenda for peace on these principles. 1) Halt all settlement growth; 2) Halt Palestinian home demolitions; 3) Ease the terms of the Gaza blockade.
