Of course nobody would dare suggest that the JPost reporter who as we speak is live tweeting racist remarks by the ideological successor party of a US-declared terror organization is in any way supporting those statements or that party by tweeting or retweeting them.

It's almost dizzying that JPost is using a retweet of a retweet to somehow indict two people for imaginary ties to a terrorist organization. Do we all need to re add "RT ≠ endorsement" to our bios?

The is now going after for retweeting , calling him a "terror sympathizer" for — GET THIS — retweeting statements by the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine. Silly me, I forgot RTs are automatic endorsements.

The only winners here are the GOP & the Israeli right, who are thrilled that instead of talking about the GOP's obscene racism, or about how Israel denies human rights from millions of Palestinians, w/ US support, we are talking about a few impolitic words by a Muslim immigrant.

This charade, this exploitation of Jewish pain, is is about punishing people of color who are challenging the rules on what can and cannot be said about Israel, AND about scaring Jews away from the progressive movement which has become more supportive of Palestinian rights.

Don't be fooled. The campaign against is not about fighting anti-Semitism. If it were, we would also see GOP reps held accountable for their relentless spewing of hateful tropes about Jews, our money & our allegiances. But we are not seeing that.

Yes, you can disagree w & criticize 's word choice. But choosing to abandon her in this moment, to join the chorus of those calling to punish and oust her, is to participate in a dangerous and racist campaign that will make Jews and people of color in America less safe.

American Jews have a choice to make today. We can stand unequivocally and proudly with , or we can let the racist right wing weaponize Jewish pain to destroy the career of one of the first two Muslim women elected to Congress. There is simply no middle ground here.

Democrats are adopting the same tactics against Ilhan Omar that pro-Israel groups have deployed against critics of Israel for years. They think that by stifling free speech they will somehow magically make criticism of Israel's military dictatorship disappear. They're wrong.

In W Bank, Israel has 2 legal systems. One provides free movement, due process, citizenship + the right to vote to Jews. The other denies all these rights to Palestinians. What kind of Democratic leadership calls a bigot but won't call out that?

It's banal. We've said it over and over. We keep saying it, and even though we're tired of doing so, we need to repeat it: criticism of Israeli policies, or even of the state itself, is not anti-Semitism. Anti-Zionism does not equal anti-Semitism.

Media reports should note how many Jewish supporters and defenders - and admirers - has. None will be put on cable TV to defend her but news reports should acknowledge that Jewish support for Omar is substantial because this issue has changed greatly:

an activist to says “are 3 people who in my opinion will not be around in several years” also is this an Antisemitic trope, or is it determined by who says it? "AIPAC has helped create and maintain a staunchly pro-Israel Congress"

The president of the United States and his supporters incited the deadliest antisemitic attack in the country's history. It is outrageous that this fact has been submerged beneath the endless fretting about left-wing antisemitism.
