    I'm very sad to learn about the passing of Holocaust survivor Rudi Oppenheimer, who spoke in schools across the UK tirelessly. I have many memories of working with Rudi , and fortunately the absolute best one was captured on video.

    Lilian Levy: Making Kiddish for Shabbat after liberation from Bergen-Belsen with Mr Birnbaum, his wife, family & others, 1945. Mr Birnbaum & his wife took Dutch orphans in Belsen under his wing and even managed to organise a small ‘school’ in the camp.

    Six of ‘The Boys’, alongside 250 of their relatives and descendants of those who have since died, gathered in front of the Jan Hus memorial in Old Town Square, Prague, to recreate a famous 1945 picture - taken before they came to the UK.

    On this day in 1940 the last left the Netherlands for the UK, as the Dutch army surrendered to German forces following the bombing of Rotterdam. Through combined effort the Kindertransport saved the lives of nearly 10,000 children.
