    But seriously folks... Who actually believed that Israel would ever turn over the Golan (and endanger its own survival) to....Iran/Hezbollah/Assad?

    Absolutely zero evidence of one. Reactions of Russia, Assad, Hezbollah, Arab states, Europeans, some not immediately evident, and how US interests could be affected, should all be factored in to this decision. But of course they weren't.
