Jaroslav Šerých, illustration for Contes d'Indonesie
This book of Indonesian stories was published by the Czech house Artia in 1979 as part of its series of world fairy tales. I own the French edition from Grund (Contes d'Indonesie, also '79). I don't think an English edition exists.
Repeating the info from my first post on the artist
Jaroslav Šerých (b. 1928) is a Czech illustrator, graphic artist, and painter. You can read more about him here.
A handful of books featuring Šerých's illustrations were published in English in the early 70s, including Fairy Tales from Japan, Persian Fairy Tales, Tales of the Uncanny, and The Dragon King's Daughter.
In the late 60s and early 70s, the Prague-based publisher Artia brought out a series of profusely-illustrated fairy tale books, which they then licensed to publishers around the world... The English editions were published by Hamlyn. Every edition I've seen has noted "Printed in Czechoslovakia" on the copyright page... Not every volume made it into English.
