How do I feel about being Freshly Pressed?
Like a hot air balloon that could go into space.
Thanks, WordPress Blogger Ben ~ lover of toddlers, fried dough, and, yes, pickles.

His flawlessly composed video of art history left me wanting to see and learn more.
Such beauty, grace, and mystery. The eyes. The smiles. I’m hypnotized.
If you’re curious like me, here’s the original art used in Johnson’s 500 Years of Women in Western Art video. The background music is Bach’s Sarabande from Suite for Solo Cello No. 1 in G Major, performed by Yo-Yo Ma. Also brilliant. And, believe it or not, there’s math behind those morphing faces. Yep, linear algebra.

Philip Scott Johnson’s handle on YouTube is eggman913. He has more ‘morph animations’ for you. Prepare to be bewitched.

I’m reading Lucky Us by Amy Bloom. Slowly. Slowly. For the lovely spare prose, the beautiful passages, and the melodies.
In between the madcap adventures of sisters Iris and Eva, the glamorous black jazz singer, the flamboyant English professor turned upstate butler, the Hollywood makeup artist and the German-American mechanic, there’s the gift of a musical interlude I just can’t ignore.
Each chapter begins with a vintage song title or lyric from the 1940s, jazz, blues and pop ~ Bei Mir Bist Du Schoen, Pennies from Heaven, and, my favorite, You’re Not the Only Oyster In the Stew.
There’s I’d Know You Anywhere, Find Out What They Like, and Dirty Butter.
Twenty-nine tunes in all. My iPad is getting a workout.
Oh, and the story? It will pierce your heart.
