Puprum Entertainment, which distributes locally made movies, has seen its biggest success yet with the release of the film Jailbreak. It beat out the opening day ticket sales of other films distributed by the company, with all opening day showings in Phnom Penh and Siem Reap sold out. CIFF organisers announced that the film festival will be held from March 4 to 9 this year, hoping to match the success of the previous edition, which brought in more than 17,000 guests, including CIFF honaray committee president Angelina Jolie Pitt, and showed over 100 films. This year’s festival will feature more than 160 screenings and events. Among the films that will be featured are Davy Chou’s Diamond Island, Jimmy Henderson’s Jailbreak, Sok Visal’s innovative Poppy Goes to Hollywood and Huy Valeng’s Vikalcharet.

On Saturday January 14, Next Home held the soft opening of its new showroom in Phnom Penh. The company is the exclusive distributor in Cambodia of Shangpin, the largest and most innovative furniture brand in China. The company’s main focus is to customise furniture for people’s homes. On Wednesday, the Emperors of China restaurant celebrated Chinese New Year with red clothes and decor for luck, as well as traditional Chinese dishes made of raw fish.
