Your statement isn't true of all OS or devices. Your pretty close though. For instance, on my device in order to produce an outcome of "₧", you must use "Alt" + "88478". It requires the additional "8", otherwise "Alt" + "8478" will just simply produce a result of "▲".

Theres a symbol, with a purple backround, the stroke (cross) from the female symbol on the bottom, connected to the arrow from the male symbol. The arrow angles off to the top right corner, and there is no circle anywhere even though both male and female genders sigs have circles. What does this gender symbol mean? I dont think it means male to female transgender because that/those ones is pretty different. Could it be a bisexual symbol? I know the girl who uses it is into girls for sure, then guys im 75% sure shes into them as well.

Paul, the inbetween-gender symbol is literally so not-meaningless that it's part of the worldwide Unicode standard. Sorry to break the news to you.

That's just your opinion, Paul, but just because you don't have a use for it doesn't mean there isn't one.

The male and female symbol combined is meaningless, you cannot be male and female at the same time.

Is there an ALT code for male/male & female/female? They should look like normal fender symbol but closer together and inner-connected thru the circle

None of this worked for me, I'm using Win 7 Pro 64 bit, Office 2013. In excel every time I hold Alt and key in 11 or 23 my excel sheet goes back to saving options...

none of these solutions work on a mac running word 2011. any combination of shift alt caps lock or anything else just produces 11

On a Mac in Word 2011, I just copied a symbol on this site and pasted it in a Word document. I selected the symbol, then clicked open "autocorrect". The symbol I selected in Word was automatically in the "With" slot. I then put in a word of my choice in "Replace" and pressed "OK". Now, the symbol appears in the document whenever I type the word I put in "Replace".

There will be a NumLock key.
It should toggle and there should be an associated led indicating that it is on.
When numlock is on, some of the keys will take alternate values:
7, 8 and 9 become keypad 7, 8 and 9
u, i and o become keypad 4, 5 and 6
j, k and l become keypad 1, 2 and 3
m becomes keypad 0

My current laptop actually requires use of the Fn key to put the num lk on

all i have are the top row keys. so when i do it, it tries to save the file.

When I do any of the ALT Keys below number 30 all I get is a question Mark ?. This would be for music, gender, etc. Number above this work OK. Any ideas?

You have to hold down the Alt key and while holding it down, type the 11 or 12 on the numeric keypad. It won't work if you use the numbers on the top row of the keyboard. Alt+11 or Alt+12
