AIIM Awards Program

The Award of Merit was established in 1954 and is the highest award the association can bestow. This award recognizes lifetime achievement to the association and to the industry.

No more than one (1) such award will be made in any one year. The Award of Merit is not necessarily awarded annually.

To be eligible to receive the Award of Merit, each nominee must:

• Have been enrolled in the Company of Fellows for at least five (5) years prior to nomination; and 
• Have been an exemplary Fellow and have demonstrated exceptional leadership and contribution to the Association; and
• Have made widely recognized contributions which have materially benefitted the growth of the ECM industry, such as through new fields of applications, publications, education, or volunteerism.

No member of the Board of Directors can receive an Association award during his/her tenure on the Board. Members of the Board cannot make nominations for the Awards.

Nominations shall be made by a member of the Company of Fellows.

Recipients will be selected by the AIIM Awards Committee and approved by the Board of Directors.

Established in 1963, the Company of Fellows honors those individuals in the association who merit recognition and distinction for their outstanding contributions to the ECM industry. Each award is numbered and assigned in perpetuity. Enrollments are limited to no more than four (4) individuals per year.

To be eligible for enrollment in the Company of Fellows each nominee must:

• Have been a Professional Member of the association for at least five (5) continuous years prior to nomination, or have served as Chair of the Board of Directors;
• Be known to be of good character and reputation; and
• Have been of exceptional value to the field through long service to the association; and
• Have demonstrated notable contributions to the ECM industry over the immediately preceding five (5) years.

No member of the Board of Directors can receive an Association award during his/her tenure on the Board (with the exception of the Best Practices Awards, which are voted on by the membership). Members of the Board cannot make nominations for the Awards.

The Thomas C. Bagg Standards Award is given in memory of Thomas C. Bagg, Jr., who was an internationally recognized leader in the standards community. No more than one such award will be made in any one year, and it is not necessarily awarded annually. To be eligible to receive the Thomas C. Bagg Standards Award, each nominee must:

• Be a Professional Member of AIIM;
• Have been an active member of the AIIM Standards Program and other industry standards programs for five (5) or more years;
• Widely recognized contributions to the field of ECM standards;
• Influenced or assisted in the development of industry/user-critical standards;
• Conducted courses, lectures, or seminars;
• Authored articles and books.

Established in 2015, this award is open to all Professional Members. The Carl E. Weise Scholarship Award recognizes  organizations whose Information Governance program is making an impact. Only one small to mid sized organization that is improving an ongoing program of information governance shall be recognized each year. To be eligible to receive the Carl E. Weise Scholarship Award, each nominee must:

• Be a Professional Member of AIIM;
• Be a small to mid sized organization; and
• Have established an Information Governance Program that is making an impact.

No member of the Board of Directors can receive an Association award during his/her tenure on the Board. Members of the Board cannot make nominations for the Awards. Nominations shall be made by an AIIM Professional Member, or an employee of any AIIM Trade or Advisory Trade Member. Recipients will be selected by the AIIM Awards Committee and approved by the Board of Directors.

• Why did your company establish an Information Governance program?

The AIIM Leadership Award is open to all Professional Members. It recognizes individuals whose outstanding leadership within our community goes above and beyond to benefit the advancement of the information management industry and AIIM especially in the past twelve (12) months. No more than ten (10) individuals or organizations shall be recognized each year. To be eligible to receive the AIIM Leadership Award, each nominee must: 

• Be a Professional Member of AIIM (you can join now and be considered for the award); and
• Demonstrate leadership to our community and the industry during the last twelve (12) months.

There are four (4) categories for the AIIM Leadership Award that will be awarded:

• Community Engagement – Recognizes a chapter, SIG or committee leader who has significantly engaged and energized the community through their efforts to connect AIIM members. No more than two (2) individuals will be recognized.
• Social Buzz  – Recognizes the blogger, Tweeter, discussion initiator or content contributor who has created a buzz. Consideration should be given to the quality of information shared and the number of comments and likes generated.  No more than two (2) individuals will be recognized.
• Community Spirit – Recognizes acts of voluntarism of our members in their own local community, extending the AIIM community beyond our industry. Professional Members, Chapters, and Company (Trade/Team/ELC) members are eligible. No more than one individual and one company/organization will be recognized.
• Innovation – Recognizes a company that has brought AIIM on site to train their organization or provides a spotlight on an individual who has received training and put the training to work. Whether company or individual, the award recognizes how training has changed an organization’s process or resulted in an ROI that impacted the organization. No more than one individual and one company/organization will be recognized.

Nominations shall be made by AIIM Professional Members and recipients will be selected by the AIIM Awards Committee. No member of the Board of Directors can receive an Association award during his/her tenure on the Board and Members of the Board cannot make nominations for the Awards.
