Programs for Teachers
The Wexner Center offers workshops and resource materials for teachers to introduce issues in contemporary art and culture and to help you prepare your students for visits to the center. The center's exhibitions and building provide points of departure for in-depth workshops for teachers, as well as for public artists' talks, lectures, symposia, and other programs that may interest you.
You can also plan in-service workshops for your school, or sign up for graduate-level courses created in tandem with Wexner Center programs.

Art & Environment: A Course for Teachers
With 12 years of experience teaching Eco Art directly to high school students, the Wexner Center’s Director of Education Shelly Casto has extensive materials and resources to share with teachers around the world. Designed primarily for K–12 art teachers, this course will provide an in-depth introduction to the emerging field of Eco Art as well as a basic introduction to environmental science, activism, and culture. Teachers will leave the course with a comprehensive online curriculum packet and an array of ideas from fellow participants. Art & Environment will be available as an online-only professional development course for teachers in summer 2015. General classroom (grades K–5), humanities (6–12), and science teachers (6–12) exploring interdisciplinary connections will also find the course of interest. Pages: Art and Writing
High School students participating in the Pages program visit the Wexner Center at least three times during the school year, experience visual arts, performing arts, and film projects, and develop their own responses in poetry, prose, and artwork. Applications for the 2015–16 school year will soon be available. Read more and find application materials here.
Art & Environment: A Course for High School Students
Do you have a student who is eco-conscious and interested in contemporary art? Will they be in 11th or 12th grade in fall 2015? Here’s his or her chance to learn about the intersections of art and environmental issues at Ohio State while earning high school credit through your school. Blending extensive online course work and diverse field trip excursions, this course also gives students the opportunity to exhibit their environmentally informed art at the Wexner Center. The course meets most Wednesdays, 3–5 PM during the first half of the school year and it’s free, with supplies and transportation assistance provided. Applications for 2015 are now closed. To participate in the special educator's discount, download a membership form and follow the instructions to return it by mail or fax. Please include a photocopy of your school ID, union card, or similar form of identification as an educator. You can also receive the discount when you join onsite at the Wexner Center. Stop by the Patron Services Desk/Ticket Office on the entrance level or the Wexner Center Store on the lower level, and please be prepared to show identification as an educator.
