Version 1.0.4 – Happy new year!

January 1, 2019 by ofer Leave a Comment

Yesterday we released our new version. The new version is mainly about bugfixes that we collected in the last few months. What is interesting is that the bugs mostly were created by the fact that the world around us is changing. When we started, php was at version 4-5, and now we are at version 7 (with 7.2 causing deprecation for some functions and changes to regular expressions). WordPress was somewhere at version 3, now with version 5 that have introduced new features (and a new quotes related bug which was extremely tricky to find). But still – we adapted, and we hope that the coming year will bring some more new releases and interesting features we will be able to share with all of you.

Happy new year!

Version 1.0.3 – Why don’t you send me a message?

August 5, 2018 by ofer 2 Comments

We are excited to announce the newest version, released yesterday.

This version is all about the mail feature, and human translation management improvements.

The mail feature will enable the admin to get notifications on human translations made to the site, in the free version you will get a message as soon as a new translation is posted. In the full version you also have the option to allow the messages to buffer (so you will get a single message after a user have translated some strings on the site). You also have the option to receive a daily digest of new translations made to the site. You may also choose the address the messages will be sent to, just leave it blank for the administrator’s email.

Another feature that was improved on this version is the backend translation editor, while still not allowing you to actually translate on the backend, you can now manage the translations with ease by using the filtering feature that was added and the bulk actions that now actually work. 🙂

We look forward to hear your inputs, and we hope you will enjoy this new release

Version 1.0.2 – Tell me where you are from and I will…

July 22, 2018 by ofer 2 Comments

This version adds support for Geographic IP based detection which has been a requested feature for the last few ages (When the dinos ruled).

How does one enable the support for this detection? It relies on the excellent GeoIP Detection plugin by yellowtree.de. After installing and activating that plugin the option will appear in the settings just below the ACCEPT_LANGUAGES header based detection. The improved interface will also show you what will be the result for your own detection when you are accessing the administration panel.

Further explaining, assuming your site is written in English and has support for Spanish. A user visits from Spain, the language will be redirected to Spanish (First connection of the session). If a user visits from Germany although the language is detected as German since the language isn’t enabled the site will redirect to the default version.

When both options are enabled, the ACCEPT_LANGUAGES will take precedence.

The feature is supported both on the free and the full version.

If you find any misredirection when this feature is enabled (It has been temporarily enabled here for testing) please let us know via the contact form.

As always, we hope you will enjoy this version.

PS. If you are using a prior full version and the update to the newest full version is not showing (only update to the free version) don’t hesitate – upgrade to the free version first, then immediately follow by upgrading to the full version, no settings should be lost.

Version 1.0.1 – Your widgets, your way

July 6, 2018 by ofer 2 Comments

This new version, recently release, provided us with two new features:

First, the ability to load widgets from your upload dir (to be more specific, wp-content/uploads/transposh/widgets), this is for everyone who created its own widget (maybe just changing a flag) and had problems updating the plugin because the current widget folder got overridden, this feature also opens up the possibility to share widgets with others.

The second feature is the addition of Google “rel=alternate hreflang” method, which is basically using fully qualified urls for each such reference instead of relative urls, this increases the size of your htmls by a lot (depending on the number of languages you support, just multiply this number by the size of address of your site and you can quickly add up 1k for each request for nothing). Our current recommandation is just to disable this feature, but if you want a better experience in Google’s webmaster tools, go ahead and have fun.

We hope you will enjoy this version, don’t hesitate to contact us for any bugs/feature requests.

Version 1.0.0 – The time has come

June 16, 2018 by ofer 6 Comments

Transposh has been alive for the last 10 years or so. We have constantly kept the plugin updated on our site here, and tried to make sure the wordpress.org version works.

As the versions drifted apart it became increasingly hard to maintain two versions. Hence the wordpress.org version got neglected.

This is changing starting with today’s release of version 1.0.0 on wordpress.org and the full version 1.0.0.1, which will be the new standard here (full versions will end with an additional .1)

What are the differences between the versions?

  • The wordpress.org version has a 5 language limit, and does not include any widgets.
  • The full version has more features, no language limits, widgets support, and a backlink to our site (which you may opt to remove – read the terms)

What else is new in this version?

  • Fully tested with PHP 7, should remove annoyances and deprecation notices
  • Source map support for our scripts, allowing to debug them with ease
  • Switching from FirePHP to Chromelogger.

Enjoy using this version!
