Was thinking people might like to check out the video my girlfriend Aly and I made of our '98 Rialta QD. We've been working on it for a little over a month while we've been on the road. Much of it is very obviously inspired by Tynan, but there are some definite unique challenges to living with two people and a dog vs just a single person.
We're loving every minute of it.
Here's the video, and to shamelessly self-promote, you can find us at HipsterGypsies.com.
Thanks Tynan, for all the tips in your awesome book. We couldn't live in nearly such an awesome living space without the work you did.
Hey all.
Had the opportunity to see Tynan speak at the Give Get Win Tour last night here at SXSW. He spoke about SETT, and what happened when he turned 30.
Video below, enjoy!
In case you don't know who I am, I am one half of the Hipster Gypsies. We are traveling around the U.S. right now in our '98 Rialta.
We've met a number of Rialta owners who are active in Tynan's community, and have done interviews and RV tours with them. Here is one we did with Jason in L.A., and we're about to upload another one with the (in)famous John Dukes! We'll continue to post as we meet more!
Hey guys, I've known Tynan for some time, from back in the Life Nomadic days. My girlfriend and I are permanent gypsies, traveling in our '98 Rialta. We have been traveling up the Oregon coast, and will be arriving in Portland tomorrow. I was wondering if anyone had any experience parking overnight in any central locations in Portland (we are totally stealth, with capability for complete blackout and sound control), or, barring this, if anyone who lives in Portland might be willing to let us hang out in their driveway for a few days. We don't need anything other than a place to park (totally solar powered).
Thanks guys.
PS: @Ty, if this is the wrong use of the community area, slap my wrist and I'll take it down.
Selling my Macbook Pro, switching over to the windows side of things. Looking for a high-value laptop in the $700-$1000 pricepoint with enough processing speed/upgradeable memory to last me for the next 2-4 years.
Characteristics I'm looking for:
I know Tynan has made some laptop recommendations, but I know technology changes fast. Wondering if anyone else has found some gems. Thanks guys :-)
Hey there,
My wife and I lived out of our 1996 Winnebago Rialta last year quite a bit. We put solar panels, a charge controller, some decent AGM batteries, etc. in it. The transmission died, however, and we just don't have the cash on-hand to get it fixed.
It's stuck in a driveway in the Bay Area in California.
For $3k, you can have it, as long as you come and haul it off, or cover expenses to do so. The title is clean.
Full disclosure: we haven't officially determined that the problem is the transmission, though that's what people in the know have told us. The engine starts, but the car won't move forward or backwards.
