Can Gregg Popovic steal COTY from Stevens if Spurs finish 3rd seed? by TheBurntPotatoe in nba

When KD got hurt I didn't hear anyone calling Scott Brooks amazing when his team lost 14 fewer games.

It's not that amazing, is it? They're going to win 15ish fewer games than last year, a year when Aldridge played like crap.

Show me one team that would prefer Carmelo over Aminu right now.

Three of those games are against the Rockets, Blazers, and Pels. They're bound to lose at least one of those.

He's getting "all time points leader" tattood right between his Boston and Dallas tats. lol

Kind of what Jason Kidd did with three point shooting. Pretty sure when he retired he was third in all time makes. I don't feel like anyone treated it as anything more than a curiosity, though.

What kind of value is Jusuf Nurkic going to fetch this offseason? by xizenta in nba

Portland got better. Check out what we did last year after getting Nurk. We played at something like a 62 win pace with him on the roster.

Really happy to hear this, honestly. Even with less cap space you guys are a wild card that is def willing to throw money at players you're after.

How many teams would rather have Anthony Davis than Steph Curry? by Mrcrowbarscrowbar in nba

Portland absolutely would take Davis. How much is added to a backcourt that already includes Dame/CJ relative to a frontcourt where he'd be replacing Aminu?

But this year it would take damn near all their cap space, and that's only if they let all their free agents walk.

By the way, for some reference:

Per game G Min TS% RPG APG SPG BPG TO PF PPG
Stats since Jan 1 39 25.3 .561 9.5 1.7 .9 1.4 1.9 3.1 14.1

Stats since Jan 1 39 36 .561 13.52 2.42 1.28 1.99 2.70 4.40 20.06

Beginning of the season he didn't know how he fit into our offense really. We played him in a lot more sets than last year (when he joined mid-season), and it took time for him to adjust. The first few months his shot selection was terrible (so many rushed shots) and he turned it over way too often trying to make fancy passes. But in the new year we've seen a complete about face and the return of "Nurk Fever" era Jusuf. If I'm a scout, this is the man I expect to see in the future.

I think he's worth $15-20m but I also feel like the market is set for a down year. How many teams out there actually have the cash to offer him that?

Has Damian Lillard passed Russell Westbrook as a better player? by ronjdad in nba

[–]DrTom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you're going to be a pedantic goober at least make sure your math is right. lol

Dame: 197/67 = 2.8806

Russ: 344/73 = 4.7123

4.7123/2.8806= 1.6359

Having the ball more != better play maker. Their assist-to ratio is basically identical. Westbrook just dominates the ball so he gets more assists. And more turnovers.

Your table got a little messed up there as a heads up.

Whoops, thanks!

VORP and BPM are essentially the same thing too.

And VORP is cumulative, so the difference is a little overstated since Westbrook has played 6 more games.

Westbrook doesn’t have to be as much of a scorer on the Thunder. He has Melo and PG for that. His job is to make it all work and make plays for the other guys

Except West brook takes two more shots a game than Lillard does. He doesn't have a different role. He's just really inefficient, especially relative to Dame.

Westbrook is in the 41st percentile for TS%. Dame is in the 80th percentile. Dame's defense has been very good this year, while Westbrook continues to abandon his man to rebound hunt. He has four more assists but double the turnovers.

I understand if people think Westbrook is better but I don't understand why everyone is acting like it's an insane question. Westbrook has better counting numbers but Dame is vastly more efficient, plays better within an offense, and takes care of the ball much better.

For what it's worth, advanced stats are mixed, but skew towards Dame.

Lillard .595 25 11.4 .223 6.5 5.3
Westbrook .529 24.9 9.2 .164 8.1 6.7

Kind of supports the idea that Dame could be better, no? You can be the better player without having the better stats. Maybe that's what you're saying.
