It started out as a defensive struggle, then it was just a struggle for the New Orleans Jesters as they felt their first loss this season.

The Jesters were taken down by Interforce Nashville FC in the Southeast Conference final game Saturday evening. Nashville moves on to the South Region semifinal, and the Jesters move on to rebuilding a team next year.

“I’m very proud of them,” Head Coach Kenny Farrell said after the loss. “It’s a disappointment to say the least, but we had a good showing all season.” Continue reading »

A series of costumes mimicking – and poking fun at – outfits of French aristocracy in the 1780s.

The sixth annual Bastille Day Fete drew hundreds of people to the New Orleans Museum of Art – some even in costume – to celebrate joie de vivre, NOLA style.

Live music from Bon Bon Vivant echoed through NOMA as partiers danced, grabbed a drink or studied one of the many exhibits scattered throughout the building. Two food tents were stationed outside to offer guests French cuisine – including crepes – and the auditorium screened French children’s movies throughout the night. Continue reading »

After an early June shooting at a Tulane Avenue “event center” left three people dead, neighbors have been working with police and city officials to stem the violence.

Now, with help of the Mid-City Neighborhood Organization and the Mid-City Security District, Tulane Avenue-area residents will have even more access to security cameras. One of the biggest barriers for people adding security cameras to their homes, MCSD board member Houston Hoskins said, is the cost of installation. Continue reading »

We absolutely love it when our guests get excited for a movie. The emails and Facebook messages start coming in from all corners of the city and the phone starts going off the hook with the same requests. The truth is, we wanted to show this movie just as much as you want us to. After a bunch of work behind the scenes, we are happy to talk about our next film.
