TetZooCon, the best annual tetrapod-themed convention in west London, is happening again this year, and YOU are invited.
One of the best things about TetZooCon is it’s huge variety of subjects, delivered to you straight from the proverbial horse’s mouth. Everything from mermaids to sauropod dinosaurs, amphibian conservation to making documenteries - and in every case, the person telling you about it will be a specialist on that very thing. Scientists, photographers, historians, artists, and many other specialists tell you about their own work. It’s all jolly interesting.
It is being held at the London Wetland Centre on the Saturday the 1st of October. And you should come.

“We are all worms, but I do believe that I am a glow-worm.” - Winston Churchill
“We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars.” - Oscar Wilde
Cetiosaurus was the first sauropod dinosaur described, by Richard Owen in 1842. It is not the most exciting sauropod in the world. It lived in England and other (thanks Brexit) parts of Europe in the Middle Jurassic, about 167 million years ago.
Attn: ppl, you should back SAURIAN on Kickstarter. The accuracy of the dinosaurs is unprecedented in a game. It’s already more than double its goal, but a really successful Kickstarter will show that there is money to be made in caring about little things when making dinosaur-themed stuff, like WHAT DINOSAURS ACTUALLY LOOKED LIKE.
So, I’ve gone kinda quiet recently, because I’ve been working on a mostrously complicated animation that’s doing my head in. I thought I should take a break, and see what happens if I just… paint. This is what happpens.
This is my 360º Nyctosaurus panorama from a few years back - but I’ve -re-rendered it in stereoscope, which means that if you view it in a VR headset you can see it in 3D.
VR headset?! Who do you think I am, Warren-freakin-Buffet? - I hear you say. Well, I’m talking about a headset for your smartphone - which you can get for $15US (£11). You should get one anyway, because they’re pretty fun and interesting.
So what you do is put your phone in the headset, load the video, full-screen it, and then put that headset on your face. Works best with headphones on I think.
There comes a time in every palaeoartist’s life when they much paint a feathery tyrannosaur and a fuzzy ceratopsian. My time has come.
